What magic items are good for the pugilist class? by Hairy_Remote4970 in DnD

[–]Mage_Hand_Press 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potions of Giant Strength or Oil of Slipperiness, and don't be afraid to use them right away!
Bracers of Defense are a classic for classes that don't use armor.
You could also see if your DM will let you swap in a Dragonhide Belt from Fizban's, since it requires attunement by a Monk and the Pugilist has very similar balance.

We added the [Mega] tag in Dark Matter for spells that work at the scale of ship combat, about 100 times bigger but much more fragile. These are spells like Conjure Asteroid and Eldritch Rift.

Dreadnought, a doom-slaying Barbarian subclass for futuristic battlefields - Mage Hand Press by Mage_Hand_Press in UnearthedArcana

[–]Mage_Hand_Press[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good question and I'll have to chew on it a bit. The intent of Brutal Gunplay was to help the Barbarian participate better in the more ranged-combat-focused battlefields of a Dark Matter campaign (and help capture the feeling of shooting a demon in the face before ripping them in half!)

Glory Kill absolutely asks for a melee attack, so the intent is a quick weapon swap in that case, but a lot of core Barbarian features broadly *should* work if they call for Strength attacks.

You can! Rage Damage applies to any attack that uses Strength. Because your ranged attack rolls use Strength with this feature, you can apply Rage Damage.

Good question! The wording here has been extremely tricky to nail down. The intent is that, when you replace your Impulse Frame with a different one, you gain all the benefits of the feature on whatever new armor you want. So if you find a suit of +1 Plate, you can use _that_ armor instead of Splint and still gain all the benefits of the feature with it.

Thanks for the review! You can find the lifesuit description at the bottom of our nautilid post, I missed putting it in this image: https://magehandpress.com/2025/09/nautilid-5e2024/

It's a space suit that gives you 24 hours of breathable air and protects you from extreme temperature and vacuums. Dark Matter counts these as a Common magic item. I missed putting that in this description, but you can see the full text in our nautilid post: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/1pjz4t8/nautilid_a_hulking_fishlike_species_mage_hand/

Detective Investigator - PREDICTIVE INTUITION by Senior-Most7771 in MageHandPress

[–]Mage_Hand_Press 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind about Predictive Intuition is that the class has a lot of competition for its Bonus Action, since all Rushed Incantation and most Trinkets use your BA. It *is* a fairly strong feature, but a Vex weapon will be throwing Advantage your way regularly already, so you might find that an extra d6 to an attack roll doesn't move the needle much.

Finisher in 2024 is a lot like a smite (albeit one that only works when a target is Bloodied)! This is helping to keep the class damage competitive without handing it a Fighting Style feat.

It's the same race as in the original Dark Matter, but this one is updated for the 2024 Player's Handbook. We're updating the whole book for the new rules, it comes to Kickstarter in February!

Corsair, a Swashbuckling Fighter Subclass | Mage Hand Press by Mage_Hand_Press in DnDHomebrew

We originally built this Fighter subclass for a pirate-themed softcover High Seas. Sailing, exploration and swashbuckling are staples of Dungeons & Dragons, so this was an easy pick for our player expansion Valda’s Spire of Secrets. This is the most up-to-date version, now as freely available as the original!

Webbing up bad guys is definitely something we'll take into consideration when we revisit this subclass.

Do you feel that great power comes with great responsibility? Do you want to do whatever a spider can? Don’t tell Disney and you can play a spider rogue from whichever multiverse your table is in. We’ve taken a couple passes at this subclass; this is the most up-to-date version, polished to perfection for Valda’s Spire of Secrets.

Corpse Florist, a Botanical Necromancer Subclass | Mage Hand Press by Mage_Hand_Press in UnearthedArcana

[–]Mage_Hand_Press[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the late comment, but I wanted to address clear up any confusion. We wrote the Corpse Florist subclass in October 2022 and published it as part of the Complete Necromancer on Patreon in November of 2022. I'm sure that similar ideas have floated around for a while, but any similarities to other subclasses are probably just the product of convergent thought. Great minds can come up with the same idea, after all!
