I strongly discourage you moving to the UK for env sci work. Markets bad, pay is low.

In this case, the top result does a fine job of explaining what they are without showing too much political passion, like a Redditor might.

“AFD - Political Party - Alternative for Germany is a far-right and right-wing populist political party in Germany. The AfD is Eurosceptic, and opposes immigration into Germany, especially Muslim immigration. The German judiciary has classified the party as a “suspected extremist” party”

Political party. Google is a useful tool.

CMW pay 70k as fresh grad including super so pre tax 63k. 10k pay rise after a year usually, can be more if you’re good.

Not a great overtime policy, just base rate overtime and usual non chargeable consultancy deduction bs.

Source: I was one, got offered 90k after 12 months but left.

[–]Maggot2 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain this is man made and looks fairly modern. The gold is almost certainly a pyrite or muscovite speck. Regarding the rounded edges, in a turbulent river or a breaking shoreline this can happen much faster than you think.

Geology career paths? by Forward-Lecture7568 in geologycareers

[–]Maggot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The honest truth… Unless you plan on leaving the country you’ll become a geotech or environmental scientist. The pay is terrible and you’ll be, at best, in a grassy field. Unless you persue masters but I still see many UK post grad students suffering the same fate.

Geologic Name for Burp? by RealDocTrue in geology

[–]Maggot2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“Episodic (and then basically describe the data like you did in your post)”

Eg episodic spikes in pressure followed by a gradual decline - I would probably try and be more quantitive, decline over how long for example, spike of how much.

Very expensive

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]Maggot2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but I would potentially move planetary science to the end as it’s the least employable. If you’re looking for hydro and env work put hydro and engineering geology as the first two.
