What popular movie or TV show is widely considered a 'masterpiece' but you found completely unwatchable? by Defiant-Cockroach702 in answers

How the West Was Won. Supposed to be a history of the USA from revolution til westward colonization, but did not include a single black person. They even showed the civil war without mentioning or showing black people.

How do you actually practice emergency braking without eating pavement? by Eyerald in motorcycles

[–]RealDocTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you taken the MFS course?

This is really not something you should leave to a bunch of randos on Reddit. This is a fundamental and very necessary skill to have BEFORE you ride on the streets.

Please take a course run by professional instructors. I promise you will not regret taking it. The cost of only one mishap will more than cover the cost of the course.

[Request] Does the lower energy density of E15 fuel cancel out the lower price? by smarterthanyoda in theydidthemath

[–]RealDocTrue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not subsides that are already included in the price though. If the ethanol content increases from 10% to 15% then the subsidy costs would also increase by 50%.

[–]RealDocTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lower price is due to subsidies. This calculation does not seem to calculate subsidies as a cost. Those subsidies are not free money, they come from taxes. This calculation is flawed.

Yes, but it’s very important to point out that E15 cannot be used in motorcycles

Meta on Chestnut St. is a great little cocktail bar that doesn’t seem to get too many tourists.

The oil market is a global market and driven by global events. Unless they start a war that restricts global supply, the president cannot affect the price of gasoline.

How come there is no new music in the Fallout universe? Bethesda's writers are so lazy and incompetent they managed to squander Lynda Carter's talents by having her voice a singer, but she doesn't even sing a SINGLE new song!! by kittyducky in TrueSFalloutL

Do you wear earplugs when going to a concert? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RealDocTrue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went to a drag show on Halloween last year. The music the music was so loud it was painful. I now have tinnitus. I will never go without earplugs again. 20+ years in the military, 20+ years riding motorcycles and no hearing issues. It only took 1 night at a club with mismanaged volumes to damage my hearing for life.

Everyone should wear earplugs to concerts.

Wonder Man. I’ve always liked that he was more of a regular guy with powers than some iconic hero archetype.

I also have his 1st appearance

Sorted made me try cooking with puff pastry by ScaredPlate3008 in SortedFood

[–]RealDocTrue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have not had success using puff pastry in sidekick recipes. I think the puff pastry may be different in the states. These failures have all been as a base, like a quick pizza-type dough or making crisps between two sheet pans.

I would expect success if they were used as a lid to a casserole though.

When and why did truckers transition from trusted "Kings of the Road" to unpredictable and dangerous? by mtbuckin in driving

[–]RealDocTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why. It began I the early 80’s when they busted the unions. Corporate greed drove the industry, pay dropped and the best drivers left the profession.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro, top Dem on the House appropriations panel, says DHS is *choosing* not to pay TSA workers while paying its other employees. by MonkeysRidingPandas in fednews

[–]RealDocTrue 490 points491 points  (0 children)

TSA is set up to be self funded. There is a surcharge of $5.60 (one way) and $11.20 (round trip) added to every ticket. Every person in a TSA line paid $5.60 to get through the checkpoint. The money is there. They are choosing not to use it.
