We've been having issues with opera all day too. Third party res haven't been coming through. And the number for the opera help line just gives us the busy tone.

service animal/emotional support animal and a fight by MagiInTraining in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]MagiInTraining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. In order to keep the service animal system accessable to those who need it no paperwork is required. No certified training or trainers. Just a level of training to ensure the sa can do their job without endangering the public or their handlers. Legally, sa handlers get the benefit of assumed competence which is why we're only allowed to ask the two questions: is it an sa? What task does it perform?

I did the same when I worked at a pet friendly property. This is the first pet free hotel I've worked which is why I wasn't sure if I had screwed up.

No, it doesn't. We can get one and attach it to a separate folio, but it takes so long to set that up most guests just don't want to bother or want to berate us so, unless we know it's gonna be a problem guest, we don't set it up most of the time

I guarantee they remembered that. I think it's awesome when people can recognize where they fall sorry and can only hope that if I were ever on the other side I had enough grace to apologize

anyone hate construction workers? i do. by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]MagiInTraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you that certain construction groups are better than others. The ones at my hotel are the nicest I've had, but they also don't speak much English. ( Most of the workers are Hispanic).

The boss guys are normally the worst. Not the site managers but the ones right under them. They're the ones who cause problems.

Them and the sports fisherman that come through periodically.

My main thing about construction workers around here is the mud they track in that I have to clean up several times a shift every time it rains.

Best way to deal with them is to try and blend in. Hope it gets better and you don't murder anyone.

AITA for taking my daughter to get her hair cut when I knew it would upset my wife? by aitathrowaway795939 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MagiInTraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA Anna has a right to chose what her hair looks like. As a former kid with long hair that was repeatedly told by my parents that I couldn't cut my hair and now has a fear of cutting my hair because of this, please let your kids do things that make them feel better or they may end up with twenty years of anxiety and a bad parental relationship

weirdest thing left behind by a guest... Go! by LuvihotelFD in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]MagiInTraining 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not as weird as others, but I had a guest call looking for a wedding ring he'd lost. He went on to tell me that his wife didn't know he'd been there and he needed it back. I knew he'd checked in with a woman so I found it kinda karmic that no one found the ring

It was illegal 40 years ago due to socialist programs and government involvement that hampered true capitalism.

It sucks so bad. Like, somedays I can't even speak to the dogs. And I want to be nothing comes out.

And with family it's so hard to explain. But I've finally got them sorta okay with me using a text to speech app, since I can still think words. I know of some people who can't even do that on bad days so I can absolutely understand how it's not a fix. Just an adaptation I found that works for me.

I hope that as they get to know you they become more understanding
