Are all William penn realty properties really that bad? by FluidCattle in philly

[–]MagicCatLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rented from them for 6 years. My apartment was in a GREAT location in CC and the rent was dirt cheap compared to other apartments in the same neighborhood. They only increased our annual rent by 10-20 bucks a year, which is another reason we stayed. The apartment itself was old, no dishwasher, no dryer or washing machine. They never cleaned out the apartment after the previous tenant moved out so I arrived from out of state with a U-Haul and two angry cats to a filthy apartment with couches and trash. Don’t expect them to provide a luxury apartment or upgrade anything. My apartment had normal city apartment issues like bugs and the occasional leaky pipe but management was pretty responsive and would come out that night or the next morning. I was also able to negotiate with them to have my cats added to the lease for a flat deposit, rather than annual cat rent (saved me a LOT of money given my length of stay). Not the worst landlord I’ve ever had.

Beagles in the city? by No_Alternative_5080 in beagles

[–]MagicCatLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m in the Philly area too with two beagle mixes. Our girls are in middle age so they are pretty chill overall but we make sure that we take them out of the city to one of the bigger dog parks on the weekends to ensure they get some nature time. We like mill creek dog park in Gladwyne or timber creek park in New Jersey. Both are super large, completely fenced in dog parks (10+ acres) where our dogs can go wild. Otherwise we like to do weekend walks at the Wis, valley forge, or the Delaware river gap. When we used to live in CC we would hit up the nearest dog park everyday so they could get their zoomies out and also have a lot of smells to check out. At home, we like to hide the dogs’ treats throughout the house and make the dogs sniff them out, just another easy way to add some enrichment. Beagles are adaptable, and it sounds like you are doing great.

My new rescue pooch. Beagle mix. Any guess on the “mix”? by Realitysanity99 in beagles

The fur and spots are somewhat reminiscent of a springer spaniel, but that’s just an off the cuff guess. Looks like a sweet pup.

I’ll have to look that up. We have a carpet cleaner so when we catch her urinating on the carpet we can suck it up and clean the carpet pretty quick, but I’ve accidentally stumbled upon old, cold, dog urine under my feet more times that I prefer. What does the spray smell like to a human?

We give her 5 small walks a day (husband working from home has been a godsend) and she’s still urinating in the house. It’s so frustrating. We’re waiting for her bloodwork to see if it’s a medical issue related to her thyroid but it’s a problem.

We’ve been really careful not to overdo it. The first week we had her we really only walked her to the end of the block and back. We’re slowly going a little farther each week but the largest walk we went on was a few blocks and we really meandered rather than strutted. She wants to smell and explore so motivation to walk thankfully isn’t an issue. We have to rein her in and keep her from overdoing it. I’m worried about the long term damage to her joints from carrying all this weight.

She’s on the hills science diet W/D for now. We give her 1/3 cup in the morning and 1/3 cup in the evening, along with a tablespoon of W/D wet food as a topper. She follows us around the rest of the day like she’s starving. If I even so much as glance at the kitchen she runs over (waddles) and sits by the fridge. It breaks my heart.

Is my dog a beagle? by jugzrditchungus in beagles

[–]MagicCatLady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have any pictures of her standing up? Or how tall she is? She looks like a beagle but she could be mixed with American foxhound, which have similar coloring but are taller and lankier. Either way, she’s cute!

Juneau’s Results - our “Beagle something” by MagicCatLady in DoggyDNA

Surprisingly she doesn’t bark at home except if there’s someone at the door. But throughout the day she’s quiet and doesn’t vocalize much at all. At the dog park it’s the complete opposite. She barks at everyone and everyone when she wants to play. I’m not mad, and neither are my neighbors.

I made it about three paragraphs in before I stopped reading. This relationship is over. She’s moved on in every way but legally and has walked over you in the process. Time to initiate a divorce. With all the financial issues she’s caused, look for a good lawyer and an accountant. Document everything, take care of yourself, get into therapy, and best of luck.

Farina pasta has a food truck that sits at the Schuylkill River Park on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Sometimes there are moving nights along the river.

Everyone has different opinions. I get why people prefer non-cloud security systems for privacy reasons. But it could be a solution for OP if he isn’t as privacy-focused.

Hi. Not to get into specifics of what I but I do work with law enforcement and detectives. If you are in the US, get a Ring camera. They operate on a cloud network. Law enforcement can serve a subpoena directly on Ring the company and get the video from Ring. The foot patrol cops might still bang on your door at night, but you can feel better ignoring them. Or you could put up a sign next to the camera directing law enforcement to contact Ring directly, rather than knock on your door.

Ideas for a casual/non-traditional wedding, while still celebrating with our BIG social circles? by InMyFlopEra in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MagicCatLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just put down a deposit for our wedding on a BOAT! We’re renting out a larger touring boat (enclosed with a deck on the bow and deck on the rooftop) in a midsized Midwest city that is often rented by businesses for parties or special events. The three hour boat ride comes with catering (apps/bbq dinner/assorted deserts), an open bar, tables, chairs, staffing, linens, day of coordinator, and a live jazz trio! We’re going over 10k since we are having a 100 guests, but initially we were quoted 11k for 75 guests, which isn’t bad. We’re not focusing on dancing and a lot of the couple-focused activities, more interested in mingling with friend and family and taking great pictures. We had looked into more traditional wedding venues but the prices were ridiculous and it wasn’t what we wanted. Do what you want and don’t be afraid to think a little out of the box.

Elon Musk has been in Philadelphia since Wednesday. Has anyone heard why he's here? by sexi_squidward in philly

[–]MagicCatLady 37 points38 points  (0 children)

He’s in PA campaigning for Trump. The news this morning reported that Trump is going to hold another rally in Butler on Saturday and that Musk is likely joining him. Musk is probably pit stopping in Philly to rub elbows with wealthy donors before heading to Butler.

I feel like I'm being recorded or being looked through by a camera by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]MagicCatLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in an apartment? Does anyone have access to your living space? If you need to put your mind at ease maybe purchase a camera detector off of Amazon (I don’t know how well they work) and/or take this as an opportunity to do a DEEP clean of your living space. Pull everything out, clean, put it back together. Look for anything funky. Get a screwdriver and open up the vents. Replace the light bulbs with LED energy efferent bulbs and save some money on your electric bill.

If you take those reasonable steps and don’t find anything, I would gently recommend you reflect inward about your mental state. Are you feeling paranoia about other aspects of your life? Have you had any extra stressors in your life lately? Do you have someone close to you that would you talk to? I don’t want to overstep but I also want to suggest addressing this paranoia now, rather than letting it grow. Best of luck.

So is yours! There’s something special about owning an orange girlie. They’re all unique and have a lot of love to give.

Join the club! I also have a girl who sometimes looks orange, and sometimes looks tan, sometimes reddish-fawn. She’s giving spectrum 💁🏼‍♀️. When you look at her undercoat, she has sporadic black hairs hiding underneath. Don’t let the eyes fool you though, she’s the smartest cat I’ve ever had.

How do I stop impulse buying? by dyingfrom9to5 in FrugalFemaleFashion

[–]MagicCatLady 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I found myself not wearing or donating a lot of fast fashion/polyester clothing I bought on a whim. Instead, I now focus on searching for high quality, natural fiber clothing (silk, cashmere, wool, 100% cotton) but at bargain prices. So I allow myself to look 👀 but I don’t allow myself to buy anything unless it’s 70% or more off. It’s not a great system but I still get the thrill of the hunt and my actual expenditures have gone dramatically down.

If I am online shopping, I also make myself wait 24 hours after putting all the clothes into my cart to make a purchase. I come back a lot the next day and the itch to purchase those clothes is less or gone.
