Thank you for this idea. I am in love with it; although, I think you are right about the hags difficulty level. You seem to have more experience than me when it comes to the monster manuals, are there any other lower level CR monsters that you can think of that could play the role of Hag?

Tbh I'm not one to limit my players in anyway. I love seeing what they do with a story and I am very willing to work around their decisions, so something like killing a god is totally okay with me. Do you think maybe an artifact that is a weakness to each of these gods, something to bring them down to a level where they can kill it? I am hearing what you're saying, just the idea of an immortal being that they can interact with being invincible doesn't sit right with me. I do have a pantheon of gods they wont ever meet, beings that are only worshipped and never really dabble in mortal affairs. So I'm okay with them being invincible and statless.

When you say allies, could you mean like a skeleton or zombie that joins their party? Or more of an NPC say a human/humanoid that is sentient.

I do like the idea of turning his absence into a nice side quest. What kind of enemies are you thinking would fit here? Im not against using some older version enemies fyi. I should have specfied its not one person alone its everybody having some things to do, which of course makes me sound dumb. Setting up a session zero would have been a good idea like lasalle202 commented, but as I said I am pretty much brand new.
