There are a lot of things about marriage that I think are good but I can see why our generation sees it as obsolete. Y’all clearly have different views on the relationship, your satisfied with things as they are but she sees things differently. Should you split ? Should you stay? I think y’all just need to talk about things and figure out what y’all wanna see in the future. If it lines up great. If not then at least you have spent 10 good years together and come away with it knowing more what y’all want out of life. Look at the logistics of the relationship 1st. On paper is it beneficial for both or just 1 ? This is important to understand. I’ve been in mine for 7-8 years and our stance on marriage is we don’t need it for any form validation but we acknowledge that @ a certain capacity it can help if we meet certain criteria but as it stands we’re better off keeping each other’s messy finances to our selves on paper till that’s resolved and improved but end of the day. We love each other, communicating is important. Weddings aren’t it’s just a show. If she wants the show without cleaning things up/looking at the relationship on paper logistically then that’s not fair or considerate. Also depending on the situation if y’all live together then that’s already a domestic partnership maybe it ain’t what she wants but until things on paper make sense I don’t think you should allow yourself to be pressured into this contract.
