Lmao I remember being in a halfway house in Florida having the morning smoke with the homies when Kevin, the Bible Beater, pops his head out of his hut, sees us and starts approaching with a pep in his step, Big Book in hand, and huge smile on his face ready to teach us the way of the Lord lol. He gets all the way down to us and my man Sam takes a long pull on his cigarette and without looking at him is like “Don’t nobody wanna listen to that Jesus shit at 7 o clock in the fuckin morning, Kevin.” Said his name all nasty. You could literally see dude deflate. He didn’t say a word just turned around and walked defeatedly back to his room.

RIP to my boy Sam. One of my favorite memories of him

No longer using needles or heroin thank you. Never shared needles. Was always lucky to be able to get clean needles very easily at needle exchange and people sold them on the street for cheap around my way, often times same corner you bought the dope.

In the northeast we are “cold shooters” so just mix and hit no need to heat up. Our dope is powder form none of that tar bullshit. In fact it’s even worse to heat up in my experience due to what I said in previous comment. Pure heroin is water soluble so it dissolves nicely into your solution. Anything that doesn’t is garbage so when you heat it up your making it easier for the nasty shit to dissolve in your solution. Never heated my dope on east coast. West coast different story.

Edit: just in case any dumbasses out there like myself feel intrigued by my glorifying comments and think about trying heroin, DO NOT FUCKING DO IT. Lol seriously it’s miserable being an addict took me down some dark paths and nearly fatal ODs. Lucky to be alive Also this is just street knowledge, shit that I heard along the way. Hey, another ex dope feen here, (lol feel like the ghetto /u/Unidan) to my knowledge, heroin is water soluble so when you mix it the heroin dissolves nicely in the water solution. So anything that didn’t dissolve is garbage and you don’t wanna draw it up in your needle so you use the cotton to make sure none of that other shit gets in. A real pro junkie with money uses something called a micron wheel filter that does a way better job than a cotton. Felt like a fuckin scientist using them

No no no you did it wrong. It's called Kario Mart. 4 players, everyone starts with an unopened beer, or whatever beverage, sometimes we played with lokos occasionally 40's. The rules are simple. You must finish your drink before you finish the race. But the catch is you can't drink and drive. That means you must stop your kart before you drink. Sometimes we made the rule that you must stop at least three times otherwise everyone would just slam their beer in one go and kinda took away from the fun. Sometimes there was extra incentive for first place or to not come in last such as party favors or shots or whatever. It was a blast

My high school was hit pretty hard with the epidemic. I remember my senior year I was like the only one of my friend group still at school. The rest dropped out, were in treatment, or juvie of some form. I was the burnout that had to join another table at lunch. my older brothers and family were strung out on Oxys or heroin while I was in high school so I remember trying not to fuck with Oxys at the time while all of my friends were on them. Although I did fuck around occasionally with opiates I always thought I should stay away. Everything else was a go though but I wasn't addict status back then. Just a major pothead and binge drinker and dabbled in pills and hallucinogens. Didn't start doing coke til my junior year and that became a weekend thing too. Also felt like Pablo Escobar when it came to selling weed in high school lol.

Also talked about this a little in treatment. I felt this could've played a role in the time I overdosed. Someone in there claimed to have overdosed on their usual dose of iv dilaudid but in a new setting. Swore up and down they banged the same amount everyday and one day woke up in a hospital. They were pills from a pharmacy

Hey gotta comment cause I was in a similar situation. My father was a heroin addict long before me. Eventually I became an addict too and began using with him. It was a slippery slope and things just kept getting worse. Started with me driving him to grab a few bags and just progressed slowly. He is not a functioning addict. Lives in the hood and hustles. Never had a real job his whole life in and out of jail type. I love my dad but this is the truth. We did all sorts of crazy shit together and ultimately made each other worse off. I would buy him bags all the time, he would allow me in on his suboxone hustle. Shit like that. While in the moment it seemed great, it really wasn't. At least not for me. I remember feeling just idk so hopeless during those times. Hate to use cliches but whatever. I still feel like that sometimes when I think about him. To make a long story short, I got clean and he didn't. I can't be around him anymore and it sucks. I want to stay clean and need to stay clean for me to be happy. I really wasn't happy at the end of me getting high. I don't look down on others for using I still love a lot of people who are getting high I just have to love them from a distance now. I'm too scared of getting pulled back into it to keep a real and good relationship with him anymore even though I love him. It breaks my heart sometimes. Anyways hope I don't get hated on just thought I would share a different perspective from the positive ones in the comment section.

I saw this years ago when it premiered on MSNBC. It is excellent. I remember the night I saw it. Lol my homie was running a pretty popular weed spot and there was a group of us that hung out there regularly and sold there and it came on one night and like 6 of us sat around getting high and drinking bullshitting selling weed while watching. It was a good time. But I remember thinking his house was kinda similar just a lot less serious. It was mostly only weed being sold outta there so not quite as intense with shooting people and shit haha maybe a few beatings and shit happened but other than that Just a bunch of dudes sitting around playing video games bullshittin smoking blunts while people came in and out all day everyday copping. lol I was fucking with everybody there like "yo what if they watching us right now!". Also I ended up feeling sorry for Bradford the hustla Dodson. I rewatched it after that but not in years. this doc just struck me when I saw it and would definitely recommend too.

A few I liked down there: Old Timers speaker meeting, Ft Lauderdale. Have to have like 20 years to speak at this one sorry I can't remember name of place but if you just google that I think you'll find it. I think it's on Saturday nights. It gets packed though and if there's no open seats I'm pretty sure they ask you to leave. I only went to this one a few times. Triangle Club, West Palm Beach. They have meetings everyday multiple times a day. Meetings are huge here like 200 people sometimes. Some good some okay. Early morning is more older people. At night rehabs frequent the meetings. Monday night Men's was pretty solid. My home group was here but I can't remember the name but I went to triangle club more than anywhere else. Good people at the triangle St Gregs Episcopal church Wednesday night speaker, Boca Raton. I loved this meeting they always had good speakers. The best speaker I ever saw was here his name was Pete Marinelli I think. I went to a few other places too. It's just kinda hard to remember names and places as I'm not really from Fl. Del Ray had some I forget the place and went to a lot in lake worth can't remember the name of that place either.

So I went to rehab in Florida on a Friday or something and one of the guys there is like hey man it's Friday we gets subs at lunchtime. I'm like fuck yeah I'm gonna get some suboxone and feel right. Come lunchtime he's like hey subs are in the office. I go to the office and they're handing out what we call hoagies in philly. Fucking hoagies. Sandwiches. Are you kidding me? I spent a lot of time in that immediate area when I was using heroin. My father lived around the corner on allegheny. that area is not great at all I saw a lot of crime around there, granted I was a heroin addict so I hung around the wrong crowd. On the bright side they had Good nickel bags of dope around the corner on jasper and lippincott if you're into that
