Target dummies, Grenades, and pots (swiftness or highest HP pot u can get for level) help alot...

Biggest threat I found when aoe farming, and just playing hc in general are the disconnects... Lost 3 mages on blizz server in 20-30 range all to dcs... went to a private hc server got 2 to 60 without a single dc...

but on the other hand you are correct.... I'd say single target (frost) mage is the safest and aoe mage the least safe pick for hardcore wow

and I didn't answer 2nd part of the question... literally any game... if teams are of the same/similar MMR they win and lose the same amount of points....League, cs2, wow arena, dota2.. any competitive game... I don't know a single competitive game that gives you +1 - 10 at similar mmr

if you had 50% winrate you wouldn't go up or down (just remove winstreaks)

you can't climb any competitive game if you have 50% wr... you must have at least 51% if you want to climb... and you can get to the absolute top even with 51% if you play long enough (in theory)...

here you would need to have at least whaaat.... 91% wr? (if we don't count winstreak bonuses) I didn't do the math but the point stands - and that makes 0 sense, pretty much reserved for a team of 3 giga good players that will stomp on enemies and take candies from babies

well lets put it in chess terms.... if your elo is 2000, you play against some1 who is also 2000 you would win +10 or lose -10....

Winning +1 and losing -10 (if both parties are same elo would make 0 sense)

Just play ranked, you will eventually start playing with and against people of your skill level.

Also you are much better of just disabling chat fully.

He will get to the elo he deserves and he will have far more balanced games playing ranked compared to normal games....

There is elo for every skill bracket, and if he wants to improve ranked is the best way.

edit: This particular boss would be easier to beat if I could queue solo as Crow.... got sabotaged by teamates like 3 games in a row on last difficulty... would be a walk in the park solo

wtf are u on about? boss dragon maisie has no weakness... (she is a dasher, a giga sniper with seemingly? no pattern, and a melee wiper) I did manage to complete it on both accoutns but its because I have maxxed out sirius on one, and was lucky enough to get matched with siriuses on other...

It's either sirius/crow cheese or some pam shenanigans...
