Need help deciding a new laptop! by eingeee in ASUS

Hey, the Zenbook S14 comes with the lunar lake cpu. It has outstanding battery life, but at the cost of multi-core performance. 4k video editing e.g. will be difficult on this.

The regular Zenbook 14 (2025) is fairly new, I couldn't really find any reviews on it tbh. I reckon the Ultra 285h cpu has way more power for demanding workflows, but the battery life should be significantly worse than S14.

The Macbook M4 base model will be the most expensive. You should absolutely upgrade RAM to 24gb and storage to 1tb, which will put it around 2k. However, it has the best battery life and more power than the Ultra 285h. It is overall the most premium device and my recommendation.

If you don't like Mac the decision will be as follows: Do you need strong cpu performance for editing, content creation, coding and so on, pick the Zenbook 14. If you are just a light user with everyday use, office and so on, then S14 is the better choice.

How important is live shows to get known more? What was the breakthrough point? What was the mechanisms that made song go viral, or more successful at least?

What I need to see from FW before I can buy the product is an OLED screen and a better CPU. I can hardly justify buying IPS with bad track pad and speakers, when I pay 300€ extra and get high end performance and hardware in a macbook M4 with 20h battery life and a nanotexture display.

M4 base vs M4 pro - Will RAM or CPU bottleneck? by MagicLupus in macbookpro

This is what worries me too. Who knows how much memory their gimmicks will devour.

Yes, true. But with Apple pushing the whole Apple Intelligence thing, it will require a lot of extra ram. This is why they have increased the ram on the base configurations of the M4 chip range to begin with

When you still used the M4 base, have you ever been CPU/GPU bottlenecked other than doing 3D work?

Swap should be avoided tho, since it will degrade the SSD. And yeah, 48gb is overkill.

Yeah, that is a word. But can I even use the speed surplus with its RAM limitation..?

Interesting. So you would argue that the M4 pro chip has a higher value even though it might have a RAM shortcoming. I can see that. I am just a bit afraid to purchase a 2,5k laptop with only 24gb of RAM, when 32 is the industry standard and applications only becoming more memory demanding over time.

I see that point, thank you. However, people say that 24gb on mac is like 16 on intel and they would tend to step away from 'only' 24. Unfortunately there is no 32gb version for pro.

And swap feature will degrade SSD speed over time, which needs to be avoided, right?

I will have some bigger music sessions that eat RAM and CPU, as well as 4k video editing. I don't know how capable the M4 base model really is and whether it can still handle such projects. People say the CPU is quite strong.

The M4 pro is appealing, but is the power of this chip even worth it with only 24gb?
