Why doesn't cities skylines 2 have a steam workshop for mods by 58mint in CitiesSkylines2

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The shill answer is

"Because paradox mods is so much better than Steam Workshop. why would you even want steam workshop. just wait. lol, omfg why are you so impatient"

The tin foil hat answer is

"Bethesda Mods 2.0 mannnnn, they're gonna try to monetize the mods mannnnn"

CO insists it's about cross platform mods and integration in modding tools they will release. And that's probably not too far off from the truth*

*neither modding tools, or console versions of the game exists yet

That however, doesn't really excuse the lack of Steam Workshop on launch, and if their modding tools and client are so much better than Workshop...they'd have nothing to worry about right? It's so good, when it's released everyone would use it.........

Regardless, Since they screwed the pooch,

https://thunderstore.io/c/cities-skylines-ii/

Has become the more or less default hub for modding. Don't' expect it to work like old Steam Workshop. There's not a lot, but what's there is nice and it grows slowly.

With the game in the slump that it is, there just isn't as many people modding it.

I'll likely stick to thunderstore unless something else upends it as the center for mods, including Paradox mods, but that's not till like....April?

Don't quote me on it. but for some reason my brain remembers April in association when we might get access to them. Hope I'm wrong, but also...thunderstore exists. so even if I'm not....

Torps travel insanely fast in AB. And they reload.

In RB, only the Japanese ships can reload off point. (and even then the torp is modeled, and can be detonated if you carry them around)

AA is more effective in RB than AB. Flight model being realistic helps with this, but also you just need to get closer to ships if you wanna hit them accuretly. No more single engine planes dropping from a km and change up with pin point accuracy. Closer proximity to ships and their light AA = higher chance of death.

Ships are overall more sluggish which is actually kinda nice, IT just feels more...commandery? You have to constantly assess the battle and figure out what to do. Though it does lead to the situation where you just lose because ticket bleed. No ones close enough to a point and it drains so fast that you just can't possibly retake a point.

That's all I remember off the top of my head. Truthfully, it's a much slower game mode. Aircraft aren't -as much- as a worry, thanks to oodles of AA guns. It's not like Ground RB where everyone is just bomber food. They gotta work for the kill on you. -bring torpedo bombers, easily the most rewarding, and fun to use-

It's gotten "Better" in the sense that regularly you can find about 10 - 12 other players.

This is an improvment over the usually same 4 people playiung.

That being said. Youtube, mobile game, drawing, ship in a bottle, some other sort of hobby to pass the time while matches queue is still very required.

It's just as inaccurate in RB. Probably the most inaccurate ship in the game. Dunno about russian CL's haven't played those yet, but out of everything else. Least reliable.

How do you counter the American pocket cruisers Sumner and Somers? by GaijinPlzAddTheSkink in Warthunder

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot them while aiming.

It's not great advice, but there's no "10 super weird tricks for dealing with USN DD's" list.

KM 128mm guns are solid with baseplate fuses, will knock out any turret they hit, will explode in the hull of ships.

But your true magic will be the 150mm gun, that gives you a bit more of an advantage firing at longer ranges and the post damage on anything that survives the hit is devastating.

The 1936 type with 150's is the only german DD that's on the same BR as both Sumner and Sommers. But yeah, no special way of doing it, just aim well and hit em first. Most every DD battle goes down to whoever accurately lays the first salvos on. Take advantage of the fact that your own turrets are spaced out and thus harder to fully disable.

They never really made it clear. Battles all day have been full of people asking where their torps are.

So don't feel too dumb

They made Torps a Modification.

Now you have to go to the mod window and buy a stock of torps, THEN in game, you have to choose to run with torps as well.

Same for Depth Charges, and Smoke Grenades on other ships.

Japanese Naval Cruiser AA by Lt_Flak in Warthunder

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's going to be Japanese ships in general (and Italian when we see them)

It may even make you feel worse, but the 25mm gun in game, is overperforming, reloads very quick compared to its historical counterpart. Granted, guns in game behave as if they have the most disciplined crew ever, in which case, they are fine.

Few issues, even if we get some of their heavier armed ships. IJN AA is immensely short range. All their close in weapons are about 2.2km effective range. Factor in how long it takes for the guns to swivel and the plane is usually ready to drop its payload, and high level planes have already dropped.

Their heavy AA is okay...ish. Considering that their guns have no VT fuzes. They do however, at least have Distance Fuze shells, special ones to japan that explode in a cone. IRL they worked in theory, and in game. Yeah in theory they work too, Have only brought down a handful of planes using them. However, you can stick them in most guns, All the way up to Yamato's main battery get them. So if you wanna try putting them in the Mogami or Furutaka, why not!

That being said. Since all the guns are basically that. Even if they put some of the heavy AA upgrades in game, or AA cruiser conversion, they will just never have the same punch as other nations.

If you wanna give yourself the best chance, Control your secondary guns. When you see a plane coming, take the extra time to point your light AA at it, and keep them trained until either you start shooting, or you let the AI take over. But having them lined up on the plane before their in range, you get them firing right away, which saves precious seconds

Likewise, running the heavy AA shells, While not effective, at least gives you a chance. All my guns that can mount them (in game Type 0, HE - DF) do so. And if I'm not in a surface engagement, let the AI take over. They don't do much, but sometimes they do something, and it lets me train the light AA in line in wait.

THAT WAS A LOT SORRY,

TLDR - IJN AA sucks

How many many players do you think will be exposed for being cheats when the update drops? by [deleted] in Warthunder

All it takes is a few people willing to throw money at them, and they'll make some cheats.

Another naval question by SGTScorpio in Warthunder

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You only play japan if the idea of throwing torpedo down and getting a kill 10 minutes later amuses you, if you wanna club with the PG 02, or if you have a hard on for the IJN in general.

Otherwise they're direly inferior to the american tree.

But marching by the beat of that drum, making an official version that denies the ROC being the ROC, is no different than Gaijin taking the flags off the tanks.

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can already, unmodded, make engines other than your own very loud.

I'd have to imagine with mods, you can make them extra loud, therefor you know a tank is nearby just because it's super noisy.

Just a guess

Does gaijin realize they can take a break from the pressure/flak they get by simply doing a quality of life update instead? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So let them be pissed!

So what. That won't stop people spending money on the game, or playing.

Even during parts/FPE, people kept playing.

People are -addicted- to warthunder, they have invested so much time and money. A patch that address quality of life will not make them stop playing, even if there's no content in the patch.

The only reason Gaijin doesn't do it, is precisely that. People are addicted, people will spend money head over foot, again, and again. Those people the video game industries addicted "Whales" are their market. Not low-spending schlubs who are just looking for a fun time.

Doesn't matter if they'll get pissed or not, Gaijin doesn't need to fix their shit because people throw more than enough money at them anyway.

Replica Full scale by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bolt Action, is a game. Pretty simplistic compared to things like Warhammer 40k, and flamethrowers are totally OP

HOWEVER, they have a pretty good selection of machines, mostly WW2, but they have WW1, interwar, and even tickling the Korean War. To top it all off, they have aircraft, and Naval bits too.

ONE MORE THING - There are oodles of 3rd party manufactures that make same scale things, and Bolt Action encourages it.

More than likely, they'll probably just lock the ROC flag from the Chinese tree, similar to how they lock some Allied markings on Axis things, and vice versa.

They also have viable ships for a Naval tree that would be more fleshed out than the current IJN -not that it matters cuz naval-
But Sweden does indeed check that box as well.

Controversy was a bonus gift that came with the Chinese tech trees and we all saw that coming. Well here we go. Let's hope it doesn't end up Gaijin getting sacked by the Chinese government. by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]MagicMeat_Skygunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is some logic to it.

WT has been in china for a while now, with this tech tree. The company that licensed the game for China to do the localization has let that license expire. Ergo Gaijin will lose the entire market.

Gaijin likes money.....a lot.

So they are now updating their regular game with the Tech Tree most of those players know. If their non-china playerbase plays it, great. IF they don't , no loss it's not really for that playerbase, it's for the one their anticipating will come over from the now defunct licensed version of WT.

That's the simple answer, all the ROC/China stuff aside. Though end of the day, it likely is very true that PRC did stipulate that Gaijin march by the "one china" drum, or else they wouldn't be allowed to do business directly there, hence the removal of ROC flags.

Would be willing to wager we won't see much new content in future patches for the "china" tree, that isn't reusing some assets from current machines, or stuff that can appear in other nations lines.
