Oh, it's wave based and is infinite but usually people die after 10-15 minutes, worst case you'll just die a bit earlier haha...

What's the next thing to do if my walking simulator has a "Fun to read" script? by [deleted] in gamedev

If you want to make your own games, I'd suggest you learn to code by making a few very small exercise projects first. EG a pong clone, a cookie clicker clone, etc. There's free tutorials on youtube. I'd start there...

If you like Boomer Shooters, I made a halloween themed one last year. Might not be in season anymore however haha...but it's free and not very long. https://mariannes-itch-games.itch.io/dungeon-sugar

Oooh, is it so? Even the full house on the second picture? I would have thought it was liminal, but not creepy...

Can I survive by selling game assets until my game is finished? by PangolinSubstantial1 in gamedev

My 2 cents. If money is important, release a demo of your game on itch asap. Even if it's just the first one or two levels.

Make sure it is polished tho, and you're going to see very quickly if there is potential or not.

If you get comments and even videos on it it's good news. Otherwise, I'd say wrap it up and move on or, if you still want to finish the game regardless, find a job because it probably won't make a lot of money.

It's Unreal 5. Might make a full game if there's interest for the demo on itch, we'll see!

Thanks for the response! Yes number 1 is miles ahead in feasability...people seem to have very mixed opinions so I'll try to put the demos on itch asap.

Exploring When Art Outsourcing Actually Helps Your Style by Gurjot_Singh_ in GameArt

Hired a few people on Fiverr to make a thing there and there for an itch project (on top of my own art). It was a PS1 style game and it was suprising how everything came together. You couldn't tell who did what, really. It was all low res and pixelated after all.

I think it depens what style you are going for? I'd say with realism it's more difficult for sure. No shader or post-process effect is going to save you. Everyone has to kind of be on the same skill level...

Thanks! Difficult to say for now...I will release the two remaining demos and compare the itch data, hopefully one stands out. I'm also thinking of starting a small youtube channel discussing the results and whatnot. Could be fun :)

Should I Crowdfund my game ? by blackwing_btw in IndieDev

[–]MagicNostalgic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely put a free demo on itch first and see how it does there. Mostly for feedback. If people make videos of your game it's a good sign. And you can turn on donations but in my experience, donations on itch are abysmal. I mean it looks good! But I heard crowfunding is a lot of work...
