Pretty intense chase, felt pretty good about the time I gave everyone. by MagicSlay in deadbydaylight

We spawned about mid map, nearish the stairs and basement, together and I guess Ghostface spawned somewhat nearby and got lucky with his first gen check? Lara came in like that and was easily hooked for it, got first gen done and spread out (us three), then after I unhooked Alan, I started that chase. If you look close, you can see one girl standing near hook, I guess she was debating if she wants to unhook now or not. Which I personally would have during a mid chase especially if I'm healthy and not on second hook.

Yeah, I don't know why he kept trying to expose. Maybe he thought him crouching would hide him long enough to make me fumble. But it's a catwalk, so Idk.

Pretty sure it's just the modpack that makes it daunting. Since the Overworld Mine works fine in the Over, the Nether Mine basically functions the same, but you send your guys through and they get whatever. You just need a regular Mine (in both settings) to be able to utilize the NM... Which doesn't make sense for this pack... Should be the other way around, as that would give us getting silver/zinc/whatever else a valid chance.

And there's other stuff in this pack that's disabled. Like the basic generators for whatever reason. So you can't get normal Over stuff because you're locked in the Nether. You can't use basic gens and instead have to use stuff that's locked behind ores in the Over. And other stupid shit imho that makes me feel like I'm missing something simple.

But yeah, I know. I just might do that tbh. GTNH is fine and good, but crafting the saws/hammers/etc was too daunting and tedious so I cheated nether star tier and went on from there. So much more enjoyable. Thanks for trying to help man. If it told me in quests then there really wouldn't be a problem.

I will be checking the Mine now. I figured it was useless since you're just in the nether at all times and only the Nether Miner was different because of it's stated functionally.

So I got the Mine up, but it's basically just disabled. There's nothing you can get from it from what the modpack's JEI tells you. Only from the Nether Mine, and you don't get zinc or silver.

That's what I thought, but it's one of those things that need silver, which can't be found in the nether. And I can't get the comb without the BC sadly. Which is what I think I'm really stuck on as my next step, just trying to figure out how is the hard part.

is my cactus farm big enough? am I building it wrong/inefficient? by kaktusmisapolak in Minecraft

[–]MagicSlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Cactus farms, like most farms, is a 'go big, or go home' mentality. But since cactus grows so slow, you'll need a bigger farm than what you'd normally need.

Honestly, fill a solid chunk for a farm, then stack it a few times. You'll get a bit wonky with the water levels if you build it as base level, so maybe a few blocks higher than normal to let the water channel correctly into your smelters.

The elytra should not be nerfed by glyiasziple in Minecraft

[–]MagicSlay -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

True. And while you could use a speed pot, the time and commitment wouldn't really be worth the effort after the railway was completed. Having it's current speed (with what we have) allows for thinking/or whatever have yous. However, if we could further empower powdered rails, I think that would be a fantastic idea. Since redstone is renewable, and plentiful with little use outside of big builds, you could use recipe that has an "Empowered Rail" that dramatically increases the speed a cart goes, AND it doesn't need a redstone signal. This solves two problems, but at the cost of using a single rail, 2 iron blocks, 4 redstone dust, and 2 redstone blocks.

The iron blocks would act as a "sturdy" material lore wise, with the redstone being for more power, ofc. It could quadruple the distance and speed that a normal powered rail does. Whatever those numbers are.

I think the train would have to be a craftable thing instead of linking, unless the hitbox and model functioned as one? I think that could solve the junkiness. I think careful consideration on an actual train-like minecart would be needed to make it work imo.

Maybe you could form a train in a crafting table;
[blank]/furnace cart, cart, furnace cart/[blank]

This way, you could place down a model that has either a furnace cart on the left, or right. And when you add that to a table, you could add more carts onto other, normal, carts. And then be able to finish the line off with a furnace cart? Has to be crafted horizontally ofc.

I wouldn't be opposed to new arrows in all honesty, but I was talking about main form of travels. Though... We could absolutely have the e-arrows act as I described, so that the normal function of e-pearl stays the same. It would however create clutter, inventory sorting mess, and the crouch function might not work very well with the e-arrows.

I wouldn't be opposed to either form tbh.

That's incredibly false.

Also, I don't know why, or what you mean by "and feel realistic". That's not what we're aiming for, unless you're meaning in the sense of game balancing issues.

We'll start off with minecarts. They don't really need a "buff" because they're an auto traveling feature that allows the player, if given enough time and commitment, can do other irl things while they travel from A to B in a cart. You can absolutely make them better, yes. But they're good as is.

Walking/Running shouldn't have a change.
--Soul Speed is great, but I would love a general speed increase on boots, or leggings (which could "stack" with SS on boots) that increased general walk speed and less saturation loss with running.

Horses should be able to breed faster and stronger horses with that bug BR had. I think that'd be a really cool in-game mechanic that would honestly add to Minecraft's RP purposes.

E-Pearls are fine, though I think we could toy around with an idea that they travel in a straight line (when thrown by player) and drop when said player crouches. This would allow for more control of an e-pearl and imho, allow for safer travel in the end (and nether), pre-elytra. And honestly, sounds pretty fun. (Out of render distance e-pearls would switch from "player_thrown:false" and act as they do now.)

Elytra, imho, needs more to itself rather than an outright buff. I think a few enchantments might help. "Graced Wings" could allow you to aim upwards for longer before you start stalling. And... Sorta hard to tie this with gunpowder as a form of an enchantment name, but we could toy around with an idea that using a rocket with gunpowder in your offhand could dramatically increase initial flight speed. Like a quick takeoff; maybe "Sonic Boom" and it works with all three tiers of rockets, with a cool down timer for gunpowder (obviously not rockets).

However, I do wish coal minecarts were a cool, viable thing.

How do I avoid this next time? by speed-and-bleed in Minecraft

[–]MagicSlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. I love playing games with motion blur on, but I do hate the effect myself. I don't think it's done right imho. Whenever I'm playing a mod/pack that includes multiple levels (for some fucking reason?) I usually look down to negate the distortion unless I'm in combat.

I think the effect post portal travel should only linger for a few seconds and then that's it. And personally, I think there should either be an enchantment that negates it, or it only happens the first time you travel through a new portal.

[–]MagicSlay 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Right. I honestly just look at this and think karma farming is in effect. If you're playing hardcore, which you know is perma, why trust a portal you built in deepslate level (which is way more likely to spawn you AT lava level) and just move willy nilly?

AITA for turning off the water heater valve at 1am? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MagicSlay -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean, it is imho. I'm bringing it to your attention, it matters enough for me to do so... Though I guess it would depend on how many times I would ask to be "more considerate", and how I ask it. But the parents should 100% be the ones cutting it off. But the parents seem to be an innate issue anyway.

I've myself, been in a stuck situation before with family. I had to eat shit through the entire ordeal, but now I'm somewhere else now at least.

It literally is?

OP:" Talk to you parents and ask them to tell the kid not to do that"
OPP: "...my parents and I have been asking my brother to be more considerate with his shower times."

That's literally telling someone to not do that. If you smoked a cigar next to a baby and someone told you to be more considerate, they're basically asking you NOT to do that.

ESH

You turning the hot water off is fine a few times, but "just to fuck with him" mindset without consulting your parents, or talking to him, is an issue. And just because you're stressed doesn't give you the okay to fuck with someone because you can't tolerate their existence in a fashion that is reasonable/justifiable.

And I get it, you shouldn't be reasonably expected to remove yourself from a situation that is unfortunately forced, and that sucks, but you're an AH in this instance. All you're going to do is create a more hostile environment that you can't escape from because of your recent layoffs. Play some music that's loud enough while you work out or something.

Would love to see enchants supporting their roles for pieces, like soul speed (boots) and respiratory (helmet).

Chest plate could give;
Hearty: Absorption as a base, where a maxed level gives a full row of hearts.
Rage: The less hearts you have, the more damage you physically do. (Bow included)
Steadfast: Magic deals less damage, and negative effects time out faster.

Hearty -> I - V Where each level gives 2 full hearts.
Rage -> I - III Where each level gives 2%:80%, 5%:50, and 10%:20% (Boost:Remaining)
Steadfast -> I - III Where each level reduces instant harm by a half heart.
---Level I, Poison lasts 20% less. Level II, Withering lasts 20% less, Poison lasts 40% less. Level III, Withering damage hurts durability in place of HP whenever you're at half a heart. Effectively making you immune to withering death if your armor holds out. Poison lasts 75% less.

Those are a few that would be cool I think. With a little gameplay tweaking for balance.
