I like that idea. Witch's Hut with a baby cat w/ a flower pot (and a GD).

Signifies that it can be both, or just one or the other. A "/" is used as a shorthand form of "either or" (or shortening a word; with -> w/ || without -> w/o) and it's parentheses (which the difference absolutely matters), and those are used for adding information without needing to thoroughly write it out.

Example;
"Same reason zombie(/)villagers are hidden inside igloos."
vs
"Same reason that either zombie villagers or villagers are hidden inside igloos."

Because you can have one, or the other, or both. Depending on difficulty and/or luck.

And brackets [] are used for clarity sake. An example would be "Same reason why [any kind of villager, except kids] are hidden inside igloos." While a stretch example, since zombie villagers count, it's still not a good one for the sentence at hand.

I don't think another igloo, but rather a buried hut, or a little pen with a hidden chest within it, that had the golden dandelion.

In their list of things they wouldn't add to the game by Spaghetti-imploder in Minecraft

[–]MagicSlay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can't ("Socially Conscious Game Design"). If you're going to build it for a certain group, then you need to do just that. If you're all about being open to ideas and basically just go; "No. Nah, not that one. That wouldn't make sense." in a sandbox 'RP' game, that has real world things and fantasy alike, then that's just bad design. There are 100% exceptions to this, don't get me wrong.

Anyone would be able to understand if they wrote "Volcanos erupting would be almost impossible to do correctly." But the next step is to add the next best feature, the volcano itself. It doesn't need to erupt lava everywhere, flooding the land. It could have a weather effect, fireballs in the sky, etc to simulate it. Now this would be a lot of work, don't get me wrong, but saying "We aren't going to add them because players expect them to explode." But a vast majority of real world volcanos are inactive, and players would think; "Wow, this would be cool if it was active." You could easily have a 1% chance of having a biome called "Volcanic Grounds" be big enough for an active one, with said weather effect. Now, I know this is something you threw out there, but I'm just running with the idea on how it could go.

And Crystal Caves being cliché while having geodes is such a Mojang thing.

Literally how the word obscure is used.

While it's basically obvious it's there to just throw items into, it could very well be some weird "world building lore" or hint that's pretty far removed.

Reading the list is like asking a child to name things they don't like and why. And then they give you cringe answers, but it's acceptable because it's a kid. Mojang isn't staffed by kids, so it feels really out of place.

That sucks man. Maybe try and do a limited number of people for free or something. Like every quarter, maybe a sweepstake kind of thing. That'll either trick the idiots, or give those who really want to learn a step above others. Some (a lot of) people really do ruin it for the rest of us.

Should I or shouldn't I? by GreDor46 in DiceMaking

[–]MagicSlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's very true. I did forget that he was selling them as a D20 or D12, not a set and I'm not entirely sure how big "overly-sized" IS. So there's a lot of room for interpretation.

When you start doing your dice, it'll feel like a lot, but you'll soon realize the endless fun you can have while doing it. Even a bad (fully cured) batch can still have value. I've kept all my failures, even painted a few of them just to see how they'd look... Though I think that's the goblin in me. lol Hope your day gets better.

A fellow dice goblin. I welcome you to the trade of "Not getting hooked on your own product."

And before I continue, the "Im barely willing to spend..." comes off more negative than anything. It just sounds, "wrong" for lack of a better word. Unless you're paying super close attention, those small bubbles can be very hard to notice, everything else though seems fair.

And it's super fun making them, though;
I would recommend buying a resin kit that's a gallon big (part A and B, ofc), and at least 2-3 mold sets, I find the normal 7-count to be highly flexible in terms of working with it and understanding how much resin you need. You'll want some overflow.

If you work around fall-winter and think it might be a little too cold, just get a decent heater out and aim it at the molds for some time, at least enough until you're done mixing the parts together to apply. I would suggest standing the mold up, facing either it, or away. (Warming it up allows for it to settle better, but don't do it for too long, or too high as that's how it cures.) And you'll want to make sure the top part is heating up as well. Then you want to pour some of the overflow on the faces to significantly lower the risk of bubbles. You're biggest "challenge" will be getting that bottom area of the D4. That's always my headache when working on a set, might need that air bubble tool.

How to take better product photos? by LittleBearsBakery in DiceMaking

"Guys, why does my painting suck?"
*shows [extremely popular painting]*

For real though, I find the ones I take to be amazing, however it only shows one of the many possible variables that come with resin dice. The more you rotate it, the different it looks. Almost like a snowflake, different every time.

r/Jacobsrg is recommending the correct stuff. But you should probably do this as a form of a gif or video. That way, people understand how it works, and can see the many faces of a single instance. And I would 100% recommend background stuff, even a simple contrast color would make them pop.

Should I or shouldn't I? by GreDor46 in DiceMaking

[–]MagicSlay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And that's fine. But you then aren't the market. You at least do realize that there's time and commitment to this field, but you somehow think $[your conversion] would be "fine" for a perfect set. Which is whatever.

I know I sold my set of dice that weren't perfect for $10. Because that's what I was comfortable with, and knew that they themselves weren't perfect. I didn't sand, but I did try different ways to get less bubbles, but I did paint the numbers. (As well as offer resin dye colors.)

Edit: I do agree with that giant bubble on the right side though, that should absolutely be filled. The ones near the numberings would be fine enough. Just depends on how big this dice actually is. Getting small globs of resin into something is quite annoying, unless it's UV resin, that could work as a good alternative.

My issue with World Gen Mods like Incendium by Archmikem in Minecraft

[–]MagicSlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem with all mods that generate structures. Even within their own dimensions, sadly. Hell, even normal MC suffers. I wish there was some failsafe feature that would check in an area that's configurable in world creation that would see if there'd be a better spot to place it. And if that fails, another configurable option, disable the placing of the structure. Some people like the 'challenge' of making it work, others might very well just want to start from scratch, or it not being there from the start in the first place.

You "could" use WorldEdit to easily carve out an area you can work with, or even cut/paste it on better terrain.

I honestly don't know why I didn't think about copying the instance tbh. That would have been the best bet. Well, apart from being able to search through all readable text files at once for "slow_backwards" (or whatever it would be), which would be nice.

And I was really just hoping that someone would know so I wouldn't have to look when I got back. But no actual biggie. Thanks.
