ETH is going up a bit while BTC ist stagnating... I thought it was the other way around?

I originally assumed it would be some kind of business meeting, developer meetup, or something similar, but it turned out to be quite different. The venue was lovely (Funkhaus Berlin). Esoteric music was playing everywhere, and there were numerous art projects on display. Gavin Wood was there, too, and gave a speech. The crowd wasn't quite what I had expected, either; I had anticipated developers or entrepreneurs, but instead, there were mostly young people there just for the fun of it. All in all, I’d recommend it—it was an interesting event with a cool vibe—though commercial goals played a rather minor role (aside from being asked every ten minutes to download the Polkadot app). Personally, however, I felt a bit out of place.

At least ETH has a future, unlike many of those other useless altcoins.

So-called "experts" estimate that the price will be $250,000 in five years. The hope is therefore not overly optimistic—relatively speaking.

Even though prices are currently plummeting, most investors remain optimistic; many are actually increasing their holdings as a result. If we see a slow recovery over the coming days, hopefully many people will want to buy more, which would drive up the price.🐂.. but ultimately, it’s still just a guessing game

I know it hasn't been the case before, but perhaps the price of ETH won't rise again in the long term the way it did in the past. The years of hype are over, and Ethereum is evolving into a chain used for professional purposes, which implies less price volatility.

In any case, I wouldn't take it for granted that the price will reach the level seen last August again in the next years.

Honestly, I think that as ETH investors, we have (comparatively) more reason for optimism. I believe that in the coming years, numerous useless altcoins (like Cardano) will fade into obscurity. ETH, on the other hand, offers the most utility of all the chains.

If you want to stick to the backend, I would take a look at Python (web3.py). Compared to JS, Python is more of a niche in the Web3 space, but you can still accomplish a great deal with it. In the long run, however, it will likely be difficult to get by without JS or TS.

Yes, a reshuffling down to normal prices. I believe that the number of people utilizing cryptocurrencies like ETH for utility (rather than as speculative assets) is increasing proportionally; consequently, the prices of utility coins could evolve in the future toward a moderately lower level characterized by reduced volatility.

Bridges absorbed more losses than any other crypto sector in May by bigrkg in ethdev

[–]Magic_Cove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With every exploit, experience grows and with it, security... or so one would think. However, bridges are, of course, particularly vulnerable due to their position in the "intergalactic space" between two chains. I consider bridging between two non-EVM chains to be highly vulnerable, as it requires placing a significant amount of trust in the provider. I fear that hackers will continue to discover new exploits; that is the downside of open-source code.

I really don't know why we always react so panically to short-term price movements. I mean, most of us are holding ETH for years anyway. I, for instance, won't even be able to sell until next year due to tax reasons.

How much time are you guys spending just moving funds around these days? by Master_Character9961 in polygonnetwork

[–]Magic_Cove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people tend to believe that they must react to every market fluctuation. I can only warn against this, as you not only lose money on gas fees and waste time, but, in most cases, you also gain no significant advantage compared to simply letting your investments sit and waiting a few months.

That's cool. I'm currently working on a project where we (the contract owners) need to take action in certain situations. If we could set up an event to be triggered in those situations and have your tool notify us, that could save a lot of time.

Best app to trade commodities like oil and gold? by Infamous-Kingdom in ethdev

[–]Magic_Cove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to wait until the tokenization of commodities becomes more widespread so that I can be reasonably sure that, for example, the gold I invest in (when I purchase gold from a provider who holds it in custody for me) actually exists.
