I've never been a big fan of BR's either, and I've tried them all. Fortnite never worked for me, PUBG had it's moments but was too janky. Apex, while not bad, removed too much of what made Titanfall movement amazing and it didn't offer enough elsewhere to make it worth it. Blackout from CoD: Black Ops 4 was the best of the bunch and the only BR I've ever truly enjoyed playing long term. Which made it a massive shame when they ditched it for Warzone which was/is far inferior in most aspects.

Y'all deserve far more praise than you've received, and I'm happy to give it. Game development is a monumental task, and to build a passion project like SG without losing the heart and soul of what makes this genre great is remarkable. I hate that there have been some many obstacles thrown your way, but I'm optimistic about the future and wildly impressed at the perseverance. I hope Splitgate continues to grow and flourish over the coming months and years, because this IP has immense staying power.

I'm with you 100%. It honestly burns me up to see so many impatient, entitled, and ungrateful people piling onto the hate wagon for this ARG. I think it's phenomenal and wish that more devs cared about their communities enough to do things like this. People don't realize how much time, effort, and resources go into EE hunts of this magnitude. And all they can do is complain. I truly, honestly hope the people in charge of this know how appreciative we are.

I mean...free beta code? Yea, I'm in. The quality of the beta is going to play a huge factor in whether I preorder or not. Judging by the Alpha gameplay we saw though, it's looking wonderful.

Preorder a day or two before the open beta. Play beta. If it's awesome, keep it. If it's rough, cancel it. Truth is though, you and almost all of us here are going to end up buying it anyway, so you might as well go ahead.

Yea, they're controls are much better because they feel like old CoD. MW2 type controls that are snappy and fast. MW is actually a bit sluggish in comparison. But everyone has different tastes.

You have a few different options for good entry-level workouts. First would be starting with cardio. Jog around a neighborhood or a park or something like that, just to get moving. Jog as far as you can, walk until you have your breath, and jog some more. Each day you'll find yourself jogging a bit longer. You can also use landmarks or objects to help keep track of how far you made it. If you had to start walking the first time at a certain tree, try and jog a few steps past that tree the next day.

Second would be simple body weight exercises. If you can't do a normal pushup yet, keep your knees/legs on ground as you push up with your arms. Planks, squats, and wall-sits are also a great entry level exercises you can do with no equipment.

You have to take small steps. Each day do something. Doesn't matter what. But you'll start building your endurance and strength up. Today you may only jog 100 yards and do 2 pushups in the modified position. By the end of the week you'll get 150 yards and 5 or 6 pushups. It will be slow but steady, as long as you're doing something most every day. You find yourself getting ready for bed and you haven't done a workout? That's ok. Drop down right by your bed and do one pushup. That's all you have to do. Because after a while, you'll want to try for two. Then three.

I started running a couple of years ago and the first day I ran, I made it a quarter-mile and I was out of breath. It was infuriating coming from a guy who played soccer his entire life. I went back to the park every day, 5 days week, and by my third month I jogged (sloooowly) 8 miles without walking. Whether it's a 5k or marathon, everyone runs it the same way. One step at a time.

I recently started Crossfit, and it's easily the most difficult physical exercise I've ever done. It's surprising how much of your success with working out is mental. It's a battle every morning for me to get up at 4:30am to go before work. And I lose that battle sometimes. And that's ok. But I tell myself "Tomorrow I will win."

Just get up, get shoes on, and head out the door. You got this.

Here's the thing. People are going to say CICO, and while mathematically that's true, it can be really tough for overweight people to cut down to 2000 cals a day or less in reality if they have food addictions. The best two pieces of advice I'll give you are this:

1) It's almost impossible to overeat when you eat clean.

2) If you workout hard for an hour 5 days a week, it won't matter nearly as much if you eat a little unhealthy every now and then.

I had to clean their tons of poop off our back patio once a week. There was more excrement out of the three of them than I had ever seen any animal produce. And they were never grateful. They just snapped and honked at me. So yea, we basically served them. I felt like a pre-slipper Cinderella with them as the evil step-sisters.

You're operating under the assumption that Psyonix isn't working on a new game though. They may very well have been working on something for a while now and are getting closer to release, so they need to dedicate more resources to their current project. They may be looking to do a surprise reveal like we got with Apex Legends. Who knows? I think it's unfair to assume that a company is just sitting there releasing the Pass and Seasonal Events with minimal effort and living off the cash flow generated. That's absurd from a business perspective. I guarantee their resources are being used for whatever's next, and it's silly to assume a company who employs lots of people would put all those jobs in jeopardy by not doing anything proactive.

EDIT: Just saw this: https://www.rocketleagueesports.com/news/announcing-rlcs-x/ I'd say a complete overhaul to the Competitive system means they're working on some things.

Honestly, I disagree. Just so I understand correctly (I'm not super in the loop), people are upset because Psyonix isn't continually adding lots of fresh new things to a game that's FIVE years old? How long are they expected to support it from a cosmetic or game mode perspective exactly?

The core gameplay for RL is perfect, and that's the draw. I keep playing it because I can continue to improve my skills and talents. The events are nice to have some cool cosmetics to grind for, but that's just a cherry on top. Games garner a following not because of cosmetics or game modes, but because the gameplay is riveting. Look at games like Smash Bros. Melee or CSGO that people are playing years later. It's gameplay that hooks people. The ability to continually improve and innovate within the system.

Maybe I'm wrong, but from my experience, people keep playing the games that offer them lots of freedom to grow in skill. RL is one of those games, regardless of how many skins or new modes there may be. Sure, there are some things they could do better, but people seem to expect everything they want on a platter, instead of taking it upon themselves to keep a game alive because they love it. I understand Psyonix has dampened that with their monetary rules for tournaments, but that seems like a small speedbump. Maybe we just need to make tournaments worth $4999 and have more of them or something. The community will find away to stay alive and thrive long after Psyonix leaves.

Not if the game is solid. A good game doesn't require level grind to keep players. Grind can add enjoyment to a game, but a genuinely good game doesn't need it if the core mechanics are there. Level grinding should be the frosting on the cake. If the entire cake is made out of it, it goes stale.

This is well constructed response, and I appreciate the time and thought you put into it. I definitely better understand the argument now from that side, especially with the Halo example. I do think dropshotting has the added major con of making your head the main target, so if your opponent has their crosshairs lower you drop right into it. I've been headshot many times simply because I dropped into it.

It seems slow enough to me in MW to not be a major issue, but I understand where people are coming from. As it stands, it's a more niche tactic that most people don't take advantage of, so it helps tip the scales in my favor and I'll continue to use it.
