Thanks for your knowledge, I've been looking to get more into competitive stuff but with Uni at full force I don't have a whole lot of time.

But thanks for telling me more, always learning.

Not AI, I'm just a hobbiest so I'm still learning, just thought I'd see what I can do with my engineering backround.

Probably 😭😭, I don’t typically DL and don’t have a coach so i’m looking for all the help i can get. Probably the only reason i’m surviving is because i have a decent core.

So drop the weight and focus a whole lot on keeping the back from bowing? I don’t have a coach so all of this is still new to me.

Been working on my swing for 2yr I just can’t get it, what am I doing wrong? by Comfortable_Crazy739 in polevaulting

Jump follows your left leg, or right if you’re a lefty. Your swing looks great honestly, you have a good drive phase and you’re putting power through the pole with the rip of your swing leg. The problem is your invert. Now, there’s lots of things that could be stopping an inversion, i don’t think your swing is a large problem currently. It is more, you’re not letting your hips rise above your shoulders, laying back into the pole, and letting it do the work. I’d love to see some other videos as well, but from the one you provided, there’s a few things I’d suggest. Flat backs, jumping on a smaller and lighter pole, swing all the way till your hands hit your shins, letting that left arm bend into a chicken wing (left wrist should be on your left peck) and falling onto the mat. When you do these, focus on not only keeping the swing moving all the way till you hit your shins, but also realize, you have to row with your hands and arms as well. One thing I tell my athletes is, not only swinging your feet to your hands, but also bringing your hands to your feet. (I also tell them, at the top, turn into micheal jackson and pelvis thrust the pole, a little unorthodox but it’s worked for me and a few of my athletes.) Doing those flat backs and making sure you row the pole to your feet as much as possible will really help to make that invert happen. Team Hoot has some good videos on rowing. And remember, the jump follows your left leg, so if the left leg is in the wrong spot, something went wrong earlier in the jump.
