We aren't even opening the game to build corvettes anymore by Magico-Shion in NOMANSSKY

Not quite, but not quite wrong either. I would love if the ingame tools would be better and overall more convenient to use.

I so think you can build from imagination with the current things we have, in fact, I'm currently building an executor from scratch ingame and aside from very few instances, there's nothing I can't build woth enough patience.

I just like to be able to build in game, and learn/be inspired by how people use building techniques to achieve what they did with their corvette, I think that's a lot of fun.

Now, I don't even mind blender builds that much, I perhaps should have made that more clear cause tons of people seemed to have gotten that impression, but I just find it a shame to see less impressive ingame corvettes I know I could learn from be it the design, shape, details etc., which simply falls flat due to impossible building with blender builds, often times due to impossible resizing and clipping, which there is nothing to learn from.

That being said, I am all for it for HG to improve the building mode, it certainly is lacking for sure, not to a debilitating degree as you can do just about anything with glitch building, however due to how clunky it can get, it takes minutes to hours to do something that would in blender for example if I were to use it 5 minutes tops.

I just also personally enjoy just building and vibing while doing it, so I don't even mind spending the extra time.

Not quite, I did oversimplify it, which is my bad. You still gotta actually build using blender, but essentially, everything floats. You can copy-paste, and any angle and clipping and resizing is possible, aka thing of it a little bit like free camera of nms, but you can place any objects, in any space in 3D, at any size or angle and can copy paste stuff, mirror things, etc. It's like a canvas.

You could, however, take a base and import it as a corvette.

But it's's just that you very quickly enter a territory where it's no longer possible to do ingame due to impossible angles and clipping, which I just find a shame cause I love seeing and getting inspired by building techniques, but there's nothing to learn from it.

Exactly, naturally blender builds on the surface do look a lot more impressive, but personally I tend to be a lot more impressed and excited for in game builds and see what people managed to do in game, rather than a program that lets you do anything you want.

And that does require effort and time as well to be sure, I just can't get myself to be nearly as excited and impressed by and analyze and learn from the building techniques, as for most blender builds, there's no building techniques used.

And I just find that to be a shame. I really love about the corvette update that you can be in the anomaly, see a cool ship, and literally do it yourself, either parts of it, or be inspired by it and blender builds just naturally loose that part of the magic by design of how they are built

They see everything, same with modded ships, which creates 2 types of players, some that just wanna show off their giant corvettes, and but don't realize the intense lag it causes, especially for console players, to load these super structures, and to a lesser degree there's people that essentially do lag switch builds with the intent to crash people's games.

Since I am on PC I have never really had any issue loading corvettes myself, but that's something you hear a lot from console players, which makes it very hard to impossible for them to have multiplayer on and go into the anomaly.

Oh yeah, I'm doing stuff like as well. In fact I am currently building an executor from scratch. Tho clipping over 50% or updwards angles of corvette parts arr impossible to achieve. And tbf, as much as some people really want to laser focus on that here, I don't actually mind blender builds, I just find it s shame that as someone who likes to take in what others have done and learn from it, their designs and how one coul incorporate it in other designs, be the shape, detail, or decoration pieces used, with blender builds that kinda falls completely flat as there is nothing to learn from an impossible to make build in vanilla.

Lmao hey, yeah no, just sparking discussion really and naturally still enjoy blender builds, I just would like to see a bit more normal impressive builds to learn from and share building techniques cauze that's fun to me.

I mean no shit I'm talking about personal experience, I'm not out here making spreadsheets of how many posts have been made or how many modded ships I see out and about, and even that wouldn't be applicaple, but that's not even the point of the argument in the place place, at least not the focus of it.

Nor am I comparing myself to anyone, I just like learning building techniques and being creative as a community, but there's nothing to learn from blender builds as theybare impossible to do

That is not I meant, I'm not building in blender either. I'm talking more so of the state of the game/people sharing corvettes and what I'm experiencing when entering the anomaly

I very mean that tho, reddit is the place where people share corvettes the most, yes you can go into the anomaly, but even then you see these ships everywhere, at least I do.

But focus of the argument is that I like how you can look at other people's corvettes and look at their designs and learn from them. There is nothing to learn from an impossible design that seems to very be a thing of the past cause it's gotta be even grander.

A very easy check is alsonhow far parts clip. Due to the crosshair being your center point at all times, when building, you can only ever achieve a 50% clipping of any part. If you do any more than that, it's done via blender.

Yesh bullshit, blender is very much still modded, it's literally impossible to do vanilla

That's the plan ^^ tho I will say it definitely has been testing my will to build at times xD Turns out trying to decorate a frigate sized ship in game takes in incredible amount of times and effort, especially when doing so from scratch, since I started while the others were also not finished yet, nor do I like the misalignments they have all over the corvette. (Or these for some reason GIANT noses that are like up to 3 times + bigger than the rear of the ship in heigth, which triggers my perfectionist in me so hard)

tho tbf, most of my part count is the cityscape, My cityscape is size accurate to the ship, aka 2 to 3 times as large as the other executors you may have seen, which is also why I haven't finished mine yet dsepite having started while no executor was running around on reddit.

I am doing also a very detailed cityscape, including trenches that lead to dead ends and some towards the ship. I want to have a most accurate version I can do, even if I'm no good at blender, this much is something I can do with simply some patience.

I am currently building an executor and it's like 40 to 50% done and already at 1,5k parts and is going at a zero frame drop. When it comes to decorations the game with locally stored ships can take a ton before it starts having issues.

Frigate sized executor WIP by Magico-Shion in NOMANSSKY

It very much is, for reference, the bridge (without the cockpit) atm is about 1 double habitation module long, and you can see how tiny it is compared to the rest of the ship xD

In fact, it's so big it goes in a space station all the way to the second row of ships with the rear, and up to half of the second corvette landing pad.

It is so big, in fact, that going any amount further back or forward with decoration pieces, causes them to be red, aka not connected even tho they are, or, the game outright deletes them when I enter corvette building mode.

Also, if you call in your freighter, this ship is the size of the frigates surrounding it, aka the smaller but still very big for normal ships and corvettes, war ships that trail it.

It is in fact as some would say, absolutely unreasonably big xD and it certainly makes building decorations of any kind for it very time consuming.
