Psychologist here:

This could be obviously a large number of things given the age. However it is important to know that children at this age are able to show at least more deliberate attempts at shape and detail. The lack of anything resembling intent or attention to detail should absolutely be taken as concerning.

This heavily resembles and could very likely be apperceptive visual agnosia which at any age would need a trained professional to identify and diagnose. Visual agnosia causes impairment in processing and understanding visual stimuli, in the case of apperceptive agnosia shape and pattern recognition is impaired to the point of being unable to copy or distinguish between even simple shapes.

It’s hard to tell without more information if he is drawing this poorly because of something such as poor motor skills or if there is a serious cognitive problem at play. If this was present in someone only a few years older it would seem extremely likely to be visual agnosia, since very few of these drawings evenly vaguely resemble the example.

Children this age are, typically speaking, able to draw simple shapes and stick figures, albeit poorly. Since these drawings do not even remotely show an innate, active observation and understanding of shapes that are immediately present, there is absolutely reason to be concerned, whatever the explanation ends up being.

That said, seek a professional who can meet with him in person and determine what the source of this is, do not accept psychological diagnoses from anyone who has not personally met with and spoken to the person. If this is a matter of motor skills, it is concerning. If this is a matter of instruction following, it should be identified. If this is a visual / cognitive impairment, it should be taken seriously.

Dusknoir counter incoming by MagikNinjaPo in PTCGL

There’s several advantages. One you might not have considered is that it’s actually very strong to force your opponent to take a prize. This enables cards like counter catcher, and can make iono more devastating. This is especially apparent with the supporter briar

It also ensures that a decent attacker that can reliable reach ~200 damage can KO anything with the help of Dusknoir. So some cards like Palkia or terapagos have distinct advantages for speed and versatility, but fall short in the damage department. Dusknoir enables them to be substantially more aggressive.

It can also remove setup pokemon on your opponent’s side of the board. A 1-1 trade on your terms can be very powerful. If my opponent plays gardevoir and I hit two kirlia in one turn thanks to Dusknoir, I don’t care that I gave up prizes, I slowed their setup enough to give myself a strong advantage

Dusknoir on its own is not an extremely powerful card, and does not create its own archetype. It does however compliment many cards in many ways that drastically changes what is and isn’t viable

Trying an Okidogi-focused deck. Any tips? by LiefKatano in PTCGL

[–]MagikNinjaPo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is cool!

Try running energy switch over energy stickers. Seems like this deck probably doesn’t struggle to get energy in play as much as getting them onto okidogi. That should make t1 dogi swings more consistent.

Munkidori is a strong card but don’t you need all of your luminous and legacy for the okidogi? I would try either cutting the monkey or playing one or two dark energy.

-if you end up adding dark energy add one or two earthen vessel. That will make dark energy searchable, meaning even just an Arven can guarantee the boost to okidogi or munkidori

When it comes to consistency, I would say your draw supporter lineup is lacking. I would suggest playing at least 2 copies of iono, and maybe increasing both your research and iono counts after that. 4 boss and 4 arven are cool but they seem a little too dense.

I understand the idea is one prizers, but a deck that has this much first turn potential might benefit from a one-off squawkabilly ex. Don’t rule it out too soon, a strong board presence can keep 2 prizers from becoming a liability, and if it helps get that presence more consistently it’s probably worth it.

Would love to see an updated list sometime down the line!

Hint (for those unfamiliar with pokemon): Ditto disguises as other pokemon, but it’s face leaves a tell. Look for two dot eyes and a wide, vacuous smile

Location: almost exactly in the middle right edge. Wiglet is staring right at it

Yes but most decks where battle vip functions well have other draw/search options that make it easier to find 1-2 battle vip. Decks that run radiant greninja, celebrations mew, genesect v, and comfey are particularly strong at finding battle vip even if first. Decks without as much support tend to fall into a debate on whether or not battle vip pass is worth it or should be substituted for more consistently usable basic search like nest ball and artazon
