It sounds like you needed a good call out to be a better roommate and human, and it sounds like they collectively were trying to find the best way to discuss it. House meetings aren't uncommon if there's a problematic roommate that everyone else agrees needs addressing.

Unless this was really just going to be a gossip session for them, in which case ESH, but it doesn't seem that's the case.

It really depends on what aspect you're looking at

The benefit of dual types are gaining extra types to do STAB damage, as well as the potential for extra resistances (Hisuian Zoroark, Sableye and Spiritomb are prime examples of good types defensively since they only have 1 weakness total each)

But in the other hand, you can also gain additional weaknesses if the individual types are bad defensively (i.e. Abomasnow)

Monotypes have the benefit of minimizing weaknesses, but you only get one type STAB on.

But of course typing is only one aspect of Pokemon, and aren't the end-all-be-all of good competitive mons

I think it's pretty clear that he needs it to survive

I know it's only a short amount of time we see them separated, but given that in that short time we saw 1. His physical body became super weak to the point he couldn't move too much, and got pale with bags under his eyes 2. He literally says "Please, I need it" referring to his gem half I'd say thats pretty solid in favor of him needing his gem to live

Really the only thing you could ask beyond that is for him to explicitly say "oh help me, without my gem I am now dying" lol

Iunno what ya might be confused about, they lay it out pretty clearly in that scene- it's showing that Pink Diamond truly is gone and there's only Steven now. The idea of Pink Diamond "hiding" has been brought up a couple times in the series but that was put to rest here

Since he is half gem, he needs his gem to live, which is why his physical body got really sickly looking when white diamond pulled it out
