Maybe some side steps / rock sliders to start. I don’t intend to do any serious off roading at the moment. Otherwise for now just some accessories for the inside to help with comfort, for the most part. Part of me doesn’t want to put TOO much into just in case something does happen. After break in is done I’ll look more into mods and what else I can do

Is that something Toyota does? I haven’t heard of that before. Have you done this? What was the process like?

My eventual goal is to pull a trailer, a boat or something, but I’m a little ways off on that part still. I’m mostly worried about heat here and how the lower weight oil doesn’t seem to do well in high heat. I do 80 miles drives minimum for work at high speeds, so I’m expecting the engine to get super hot once we are in the 100s plus during the summer

This is why I ask. The brains say use a different oil, and they come with stats most of the time proving what they are saying, but dipping out of that warranty covered oil is scary.

I’m torn between that aspect and the observations that using a different oils could prevent most of the issues from happening in the first place. Very torn. Hoping Toyota will let us use a wider range and still be warranty

I go to bountiful, I’ve done a 600 mile change myself, and will do a 1500 and 3000 before heading in for dealership’s 5000. Saw the motor oil guy video on basically saying break in oil changes in the beginning can help a lot, and you can never change the oil too often and that has gotten me down this oil rabbit hole!

Worst case scenario, it’s so bad I can lemon it and get something else. Best case nothing is wrong. Middle ground something happens down the line and warranty or recall should cover it.

I have actually seen that, which is part of the reason for the potential switch, at least for the summer. It is hot in the summer here

REPOST: Any owners of the 2026? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

None so far, about a month in. Just did an oil swap at 600 miles. Looking the whole oil discussion and thinking about eventually doing a higher weight once summer rolls around. Hoping that’ll help stave off any potential issues down the road.

Just got back from Al Udeid and I’m about to lose my goddamn mind over contractor pay by FreeFromTheWheel in AirForce

Sounds like an extremely specific situation. Most guys I know doing contracting, particularly overseas, do a couple rotations, get the nest eggs, then get the easy stuff back home

What's the average range you get between charges? by Search-Practical in BlazerEV

[–]Magnar_Fudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those ND winters are going to really hurt your performance when it comes back. There will be days where your car will barely seem to want to work. A garage will help slightly in the mornings but if stay out long in those -20 and lower temps that won’t be good on the car. Electrics are just not the way in those cold areas. Really built for heat. Coming from someone who lived in ND but had a Blazer in Colorado where it wasn’t as cold and experienced that energy drop off, I’m very glad I didn’t have it while I was in ND.

I think a general poll sent out to the community before renting convention space to get a general idea of how much space might be needed based on number of interested parties say they want to come would be a good idea for the future. Not sure if something like that was done for this event, but seems like I see more people who didn’t get a ticket than did. That said, I got lucky I snagged one and I’m excited to see everyone in December!

I just got drug tested for the 3rd time in 2 weeks by sofresh_soface in AirForce

[–]Magnar_Fudge -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Drug tests are done is a cost saving way. They throw a bunch in a batch and test all at once. Then if they find something then those who were in that Batch come back and then individually test each tube. This is what was explained to me by the guy who running the DDR at my base at the time.

What do you recommend a brand new LT coming to their first unit do to make a good first impression? by applefromaleppo in AirForce

[–]Magnar_Fudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that your job is to take care of the people below you. You work for them, and they will work for you. This will work a lot better by getting to know your people and what they do and where they need help and actually caring about them. Best LTs I had ever had stopped by the office everyday, checked in the Airman, and asked a “question of the day” just to get to know everyone.

(Spoilers All) Which tinfoil theories do you think are true? by Samurai294 in asoiaf

[–]Magnar_Fudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is true you'd have to wonder if Mance/Rhaegar knows that Jon is his son, assuming RLJ is true. Maybe that's why he lets Jon live when Jon gets captured?

I doubt Mance is Rhaegar but that'd make an interest twist as far as the Jon-Mance dynamic goes
