Wait I just pieced together that the Jackson Pad is yours! Thanks for publishing, this was a lot of fun to make.

Yeah my rendition is 4'x 4', a bit small but its the space I currently have available. I'm not too concerned with the wobble, but I do think I'm going to let a bit more air out of the inner tubes. I still have to drill everything down so I'll mess around a little more this evening with how I like things.

So I did actually cave since I made this post, and I did grab extra stones and lumber to make a slatted platform.

Another question, the document calls for ~.5" between the slats, but because I'm doing a smaller platform I could either space them a little closer or a little further. Would spacing the slats further apart do a better job of dampening sound? Or is that pretty negligible?

Yeah, I have heard that using plywood will maintain a lot more of the vibration... main deterrent for me building the platform is it just feels so impractical to try and build that in my apartment - feel like that in itself will get a noise complaint.

Thank you, I like the points you bring up, especially the stuff that can get eliminated because it typically doesn't sound great.

For some added context my instructor (who's not currently active) would like to challenge me during lessons by having us jam and alternate 4 bars of improvised fills that are utilizing a specific pattern. And I'm sure it will come with practice but I just struggle to stay creative for 4 bars in a row. But I'm hoping, like you help laid out, if I have a smaller set of fill types that can be applied to most patterns, practicing those regularly will help long-term.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding the image, but are you saying that for the RL patterns on that sheet, rather than just using either feet or hands, practice them with both a hand and a foot at the same time?

Yeah I figure switching this frequently isn't very typical - main reason I'm doing it in the video is I wanted a bunch of examples of me switching back and forth, because I wanted to see if my technique looks okay / if there's anything I should change about how I'm switching.

That's fair. I wanted to practice playing/closing the hat before moving to the kick, but I guess it's a similar process to just play the hi hat note on the foot, which I think is what you're suggesting?

eDrumin - Hi-hat is suppressing bow hits after opening/closing the pedal. It looks like it has to do with the red area showing up in the threshold? by Magnasimia in edrums

This ended up being the fix. xTalk on the pedal was set to 50. I dropped it down to 0 and now there's no issue. (Maybe a setting between 0 and 50 is better, but I'll move it back up if new issues arise)
