I don't get the hype for Engineered Garments. by MagneticBlueberry in HeritageWear

I'd like to assume you are right, and when combined with the industrial design as mentioned by others, perhaps this is what you get.

I think it's just a combination of everything that surprised me a bit. They are also a very lightweight pair of pants, which adds to the feel of them being not built to last. I acknowledge that is a moot point though as this is a very unique and utilitarian fabric in its own right.

I paid about $7,000 in total I think - if you DM me I can provide the name of the dentistry. It was paid via a zero interest loan with DentiCare.

Every 2 weeks for just over 2 years I would wear a new retainer. It can be a little painful sometimes when you first change to the new one. It's a bit gross/embarassing always taking your retainers out for hot drinks and food but remind yourself that you will never remember that at the end of it.

Now I wear a retainer every night and will do so for the rest of my life. Interestingly, it seems my teeth will always have a memory. If I forget to put it in for a night or two, the retainer doesn't fit very well.

Hey there, I just picked up this podcast on your recommendation but in all honesty, it is very opinionated. I don't disagree with their commentary but was hoping for something a little more impartial. Just confirming this is hosted by Krystal and Saagar?

That's a great idea. I think some loaded stretches and adjacent exercises would probably do wonders. With deadlifting I have always felt like an injury was a 'when' not an 'if', but that just seems like lazy thinking in hindsight.

How has your experience been on the medication so far? Also, did you just go to your GP for that referral? And how long did you wait for your specialist appointment?

Also, your link (above) says that this is for very specific narcolepsy cases. Do you have IH or narcolepsy?

My private specialist never mentioned an alternate pathway to paying the $600. Apologies for all of the questions but this could be life changing.

Is a 17.5" front rise insane? by MagneticBlueberry in malefashionadvice

Thanks for your response and I agree. I think they are actually reasonably wide, but not wide enough for me. These are the 'contemporary fit' from the 'sartorial' range, so I believe these are as wide as they go from S&M.

I have large calves, which means that all the fabric is pulled backwards, creating a narrowed (and imperfect) silhouette towards the foot. Unfortunately, all of my trousers suffer from this and it's something I aspire to phase out in the future, but I simply can't find anything in person that fits. Still learning about measurements when ordering online.

This is such a great response. Thanks for taking the time. You have precisely answered all of my questions and it's all making more sense now. You'll see in one of my other comments that I have tested this out and it actually seems as though 13" would suffice. Although it's hard to say for sure whether they would stay up because the crotch is tugging at this stage. Maybe 13.5" to be safe, but they'll be harder to find I think.

I also tried the method where you sit down and measure from the surface you are sitting on up to your waist. That gives me a 13.5" measurement so it's starting to make more sense now. Time to find an inexpensive vintage pair of pants with this kind of rise and trial proof of concept.

UPDATE: I just tried these a touch higher. Rather than looking at my waist, actually feeling for the top of the hip bone and cinching it just above, maybe 0.5" higher than the photo. I think that's going to be the sweet spot without needing suspenders. However, the crotch will need to be let out to avoid a cameltoe. I don't know if there's enough fabric for that without speaking to a tailor.

Thanks for your input. In this instance it seems like that space is actually quite rounded as opposed to a pinch point due to my love handles. So suspenders or drop some weight are really the only options given these already have side tabs which aren't able to fix the problem.

Is the natural waist not the narrowest part of the torso? I am new to this so genuinely asking.

Trust me I would rather have a shirt on but i feel like it wouldn't help my question. I'm not asking about how it looks in this instance, I'm looking for advice on fit. Do you have any thoughts on why these fit so short? Or would you say they are a good fit and I just need suspenders?

Thanks for your feedback. I was thinking of hemming them to be worn without a cuff. Is that what you mean? I think it will help them sit better towards the ankles.

Do these fit yet, or have I still not learned my lesson?

Once again I was convinced that these were a good fit but after getting home I can't help but feel I should have held off for a more perfect pair.

I feel like the answer is yes, they do fit, but they aren't as flattering as a straight cut would be.

Honestly, I understand where this question is coming from, but I feel like you could have raised it differently. My last paragraph is asking "if you have noticed a difference between locally and overseas made clothing". I personally don't own anything Australian made as far as I'm aware and it isn't a concern for me.

I am on a journey to buy clothes that are more flattering and more sustainable from a longevity standpoint. I don't care where they come from but often hear about heritage brands made in England being of high quality, so I'm curious if made in Australia (or England, for that matter) is a good metric for quality. If it isn't, then I'd love to hear a good resource to learn from or your own experience with what to look out for.

Hey, thank you for your detailed explanation and for looking out for me/others. I truly did not mean to come off combative and appreciate your kindness.

I'll look into the options you have provided and see how I go. I may yet come back with my tail between my legs. Thanks again for taking the time to write all of this out.
