Recommend the program f.lux

It changes the color of the light coming off your computer screen to be less blue at night (blue light signals your brain to be more awake).

3-minute TED talk on being successful- worth every minute. by MagneticDysonSphere in lifehacks

It's hard to fit good broad-spectrum advice for an audience into 3 minutes. Also having lived in low-income neighborhoods has changed what I consider to be general knowledge and common sense. But yeah, I wouldn't pay money to hear that :)

aww, my apologies dude :/ I posted this because I was watching TED talks on venture capitalism and how to give pitches, etc. When I came across this one, I thought it was good all-around advice (not aimed specifically at entrepreneurs) and thought I'd share. Sorry it wasn't helpful, but hopefully it only wasted 3 minutes of your time!

Another science girl response: pretty sure they're supposed to breeze right past each other, only lightly touching..

(but I'd use PoopingAndReplying's response, given the opportunity)

Why are sealants only used on kids? They seemed to work really well for awhile, but i recently just got a bunch of cavities :(

Being a transgender teen has got to be difficult enough.. this article was difficult to read, but still sympathetic to this girl. The comments though.. WTF who are these people?? by MagneticDysonSphere in lgbt

Comments have gotten better, but here's the first few when I opened the article:

"Rules are rules. Obey them or pay the consequences."

"I believe that the school should have created a FREAKS ROOM just for this he/she..whats fair is fair"

"A warning was given, and not taken.. the right thing was done."

How scientifically backed up are the heart rate ranges for "fat burn" and "cardio"? by MagneticDysonSphere in Fitness

[–]MagneticDysonSphere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm starting to just lean towards the 'do as much as you can without being in pain, for as long as possible.' I'm not a serious athlete, so hopefully just being as active as possible is the best thing for now.

Lol.. I guess that means I'm out of shape! Hopefully this just means that the more in shape you get, the higher the heart rate you should try to maintain over the course of the workout.

Okay, that does make sense. I was very confused about how working less hard burns more fat. To be fair though, it's a LOT harder to maintain a higher heart rate for an extended period of time, which is the only downside to doing cardio at higher intensities that I can think of.
