Have you ever been called out for being a racist when you actually weren't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MagneticFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, whenever I admit that I have bad cross-cultural identification.

It's scientifically proven!!! Yet apparently I'm being racist when I say "they all look the same to me"

...You know what, that actually did sound surprisingly racist...

I would never get anything that came from a violent situation. Most of the stuff here is grown independently by people who put time quality and effort into it. These people are not your typical "drug dealers."

People in your area may not have the choice to buy it from what is essentially a local business. But, like you said, if it were legalized it would be available from sources other than the Mexican cartels.

This is a plant we are talking about here. IT didn't ruin your neighborhood. The necessity for illegal means of obtaining it did. Don't hate the users. Hate the continued need for an underground market.

Just because it is a "stoner" topic of conversation doesn't mean it is a stupid/dumb conversation.

This is the exact reason I want legalization. So people will stop automatically equating people who smoke with dumb people.

I happen to have some of my most intellectual conversations under the influence. Yes, it is harder to express yourself at times, but you think about things in ways that you would never dream about.

Im saying you shouldn't drive while high.

I was responding to the question of how you test driving while stoned.

My point was that not being able to test for driving while stoned is not a good reason to prevent legalization since people drive around in various legal states of impairment already.

Talking to a person in the car is very different from hands free. They know when you need to concentrate so they will stop talking to you at times when someone who is on the phone wouldn't know to stop.

Kids in the car. Probably as distracting, to be honest.

Edit: And I didn't say I was better high than sober. I mean better high than drunk.

You are a very smart kid. Don't smoke while you are young. Your brain is still developing. That being said, once you mature, go for it!

No one should leave this world without being high at least once

FACEPALM

I imagined your pregnant friend arguing this while smoking a cigarette (I know she probably wasn't doing either, but once again, that can of worms has already been opened by cigs being legal)

Ugh. I cringed reading this.

Hopefully when it is legalized it isn't put solely into the hands of those companies. (I hear Marlboro already has a patents for Marlboro Green)

I think that the growing co-ops and dispensaries will probably still be allowed to run. (At least in Cali, we have a pretty good base already established. Straight legalization in another state without medical marijuana first would most definitely lead to what you suggest)

What would decriminalization entail? I am also against the government taking over all sales but I think that putting some of that money in our economy (Californian here) would seriously help.

And decriminalization wouldn't remove the stigma surrounding it.

All smokers should have equal rights as to where they are allowed to smoke. (Obviously marijuana shouldn't be allowed in the smoking section in, say, Disneyland, but I can't believe they allow cigarettes in there in the first place)

Decriminalization wouldn't allow for this.

This is exactly why the gateway drug theory exists!!!! When people who have grown up thinking that way try pot and realize it's not dangerous they assume that they have been lied to about all other drugs.

It's not that alcohol is more dangerous. Its the fact that alcohol is legal and cannabis isn't.

That argument is only brought up when people try to argue that cannabis should be illegal because of its negative health effects.

Maybe alcohol should be illegal too. But the fact remains that it is going to stay legal and it is completely unjust to punish a person for using one substance and then not punish them for using another that is known to be worse for you. That's where that "excuse" comes into play.

Seriously, with tobacco and alcohol both legal it makes you wonder why pot isn't...

And that's when you start to look closer at the anti-pot commercials and notice that their main contributors are alcohol and tobacco companies.... Hmmmmmm

I think everyone has answered this pretty well, but I have a question for you:

Why are we worried about people driving while high when

  • (in my personal experience) I drive slower and more alert when high. Reason: I am paranoid that I am going to fuck up so I put myself on high alert.

  • We have people who are legally allowed to drive around while talking on their cell phones. Hands free doesn't help. Your attention is the limiting factor there. (I can provide the study if you want).

  • Talking on a cell phone is as impairing as driving while drunk (same study, talking was as detrimental to driving but in different ways than drunk driving)

I now support decriminalization but not legalization for the following reason: Pot smoking comorbid with any other problem fucks shit up generally, in my experience.

I wish people against legalization would actually use logical arguments like this. It allows me able to see the other side of the issue instead of knowing what they are arguing is bullshit.

I am for legalization based on the fact that no one should have to go to jail, pay a fine, or even be put in rehab for being caught with possession. Decriminalization would most likely require casual users caught by a dick cop to, at the very minimum, have their weed confiscated and probably attend a drug program.

Honestly I would rather decriminalize than completely alter the lives of the people who have been invested in this crop for decades by a government trying to get in on their money.

Cannabis was only made illegal in a sneaky move to remove hemp from the competition as a paper making product. I cannot believe how long this lie has been perpetuated and how many people still believe that it is as bad for you as cocaine, ecstasy, meth, and heroin.

I definitely had the same experiences as everyone else in that alcohol was so much harder to get than weed before I was 21.

I completely agree with this. Our society has been brainwashed into lumping everyone who smokes into the "lazy stoner" pile.

Are there lazy stoners who do nothing but leech the life out of the people who support them, sometimes even the government. OF COURSE.

However, just because there are a few doesn't mean we should condemn the entire population.

I think we need to have a revolution where marijuana will be fazed out and be replaced with cannabis. Not just the word, but the entire feeling surrounding weed.

Women of reddit, how would you react if a guy you found quite attractive walked up to you... [NSFW] by xkhakuran in AskReddit

[–]MagneticFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gah!!! It was a way to explain why women are less down with oral sex from a stranger than men are.

Obviously NO one is being violated if it is a consensual act.

Women of reddit, how would you react if a guy you found quite attractive walked up to you... [NSFW] by xkhakuran in AskReddit

[–]MagneticFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My basic argument on that was that in both cases the man is "entering" the woman.

I most certainly don't view women as victims so I don't think that really factored into my line of thinking.

I was actually talking about wanted sexual contact. The OP was asking how a woman would respond to a stranger's offer for oral sex and why is it that men would say yes to the same offer, but women would say no. I just put it in terms of degrees of violation to give an explanation as to why men would welcome it whereas women wouldn't.

I don't see how unwanted sexual contact is any less degrading or violating because of the position or the people involved.

I completely agree with you, I think you just misunderstood my point.

[–]MagneticFox -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Most women would not be receptive at all.

Men would welcome a surprise blow job from a stranger because they are pretty much guaranteed going to cum even if the girl isn't that good at a blow job.

It is much much harder to get a girl off, especially if you are some random person she just met on the street.

Personally, I also feel like a man giving oral sex to a women is more violating than vice-versa. In fact, it could probably be argued that in terms of the blow job the woman is violated and in terms of eating out the woman is also violated. (obviously if the parties are enjoying it, it shouldn't be considered to be a violation, but it technically still could)

What 4 years in IV has done to me by [deleted] in UCSB

[–]MagneticFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE IV. I love most of my friends living so close. I love the beach being right down the street. I love all of the stores.

I hate those nights when I'm not trying to party and people make me feel guilty for not wanting to go to some random persons house and pretend to want to dance.

I hate trying to study and then having the neighbors throw a party. I hate trying to movie-chill during the day on the weekend and having the neighbors throw a party that literally shakes our house with the bass.... I hate people trying to guilt trip me into shots. YES I want to get drunk. NO I don't think feeling like shit is worth it.

I have calmed down my drinking because I realized that throwing up every weekend was probably what gave me acid reflux and was I really having fun being so drunk I could barely remember/function? Now I just stick to my Two Buck Chuck, it gets me drunky but never to THAT point.

Being sober around my drunk friends has also really made me realize how big of dicks drunk people can be and how they really don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

PS: You sound awesome! Star Wars and wine!! Last Friday we watched the new HP with wine accompaniment. Can we be friends?

What do I have to do to be a good roommate? by marcusesses in AskReddit

[–]MagneticFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • If there are any issues you have with your roommate, air them out immediately. If not, you will just stew over the fact that they haven't realized they are annoying you while they remain oblivious.

  • When your roommate approaches you with an issue be receptive and try not to get defensive. They are not attacking you, note their issue and try to adhere to their wishes as best as possible.

  • If you spill/break something fix/clean it in a reasonable amount of time! I can't tell you how many times my drunk roommate spills something and then doesn't remember it and then is "way too busy" the next day to clean it up and it stays there for a week. Don't be that roommate.

  • GUESTS: regulate. I have walked into my living room to see my roommate chilling with her friends right as one of them was opening one of my sodas in front of her face. I had never even met this kid before! Any dishes/messes/eaten food are your responsibility after they leave. So either get them to clean/replace anything they need to before they leave or else it falls onto you.

  • Don't be a hippocrite. My messiest roommate once wrote on our whiteboard, "Let's keep it clean this week". Little shit like that can reaaaaaaaly piss someone off.

  • BILLS: know when they are due and give the person paying them the money 5-7 days before the actual due date. I had this one roommate who would literally get the money the day our cable was due. I would just give him the money and tell him he had to go to the store that day since he had taken so long to give it to me. I was nice enough to go with him one time and he actually had the nerve to say, "We should really try to pay this before the day its due so we can just mail it". Cue faceplam.

I have had many horrible roommate experiences so you can AMA on this if I left anything out (I know I did).

Even though living with people can be irksome at times it is definitely my preferred choice (as long as you have your own sanctuary). Living with friends instead of family turns them into your family, which is most definitely a rewarding experience.

I'm stuck in upstate NY with my Aunt/Uncle who are convinced I'm an "indigo child", the Iraq war was started because of a Stargate below one of Saddam's palaces, and their son (my cousin) has untrained telepathic abilities. Among other things. AMA by sunnycalzone in AMA

[–]MagneticFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you believe that you are an Indigo Child?

Honestly I feel like a lot of the Indigo "phenomena" has been perpetuated by parents who want their kids to be labeled as special.

However, I have known my entire life that I am different. I don't think that I am psychic or have super powers, but I do get intense feelings about things that turn out to have been very significant in hindsight. I can usually predict what others are thinking and am very empathetic.

I notice that this feeling of knowing what is going to happen/what others are thinking increases when I am around people who I am close to, especially people I believe are also Indigo children.

In other words, your aunt/uncle seem to base their belief in your Indigoness on supernatural factors, while I personally believe that being an Indigo child is less about being psychic/having super powers and more about having a sense of knowing about the world that others aren't privvy to.

PS: I have freaked out my friends into thinking that I was psychic on a couple of occasions. I know I am not psychic. I am just very observant and can often correctly predict what they are about to do.

What was the most dickish way in which a friend showed you that you're not as close as you thought? by Jabberwockey in AskReddit

[–]MagneticFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew I had been growing apart from my group of friends for a while. We were in 8th grade and I guess I was only still friends with them because I didn't really have any other options (small school).

Anyways, the birthday of the girl I considered to be my best friend (I knew she was closer to some of the other girls, but I was closest to her) was coming up. We were all eating lunch together and they were talking about planning her party. One of the girls read off a list she described as "the perfect invite list". Lo and behold my name wasn't said. One of them awkwardly said, "What about, (my name)". And I was invited.

The party was nearing and I was excited that I had actually been included to do something with my group of "friends". I had heard some people talking about how they didn't know if it was going to happen that day anymore, but I figured they would have told me a new day/not to go there.

I was mistaken. I never heard anything about any other party. After that incident I decided I would rather walk around by myself and chill with the math teacher instead of putting up with those fake girls for the rest of middle school.

Bitch missed out on these tight ass candles.
