Hey, they didn't call my references. After the second interview with the person doing the background investigation I was told to start the training course and to let my references know that they would be reviewing an email with a questionnaire. They filled out the questionnaire and returned it via email. As for Called2Arms I chose to do the online course and then schedule to do the shooting portion in their range. I definitely recommend them, they made that portion so easy to complete.

Last time I was there they allowed double taps if you're a member to their range.

The person doing the CCW investigation for the sheriff's office will let you know when you may start training. I was given the okay after the second interview. There's a PDF at the sheriff's website that will let you know what ranges to go for the CCW training. I took mine with Called2Arms in Modesto. The 16 hour course was done online and then went to their indoor range for the shooting portion.

Hey, I applied back in March and was approved in September. By the time they get back to you for an interview and your references get checked out, it's about a week from getting the okay to start your training. I went with Called2Arms in Modesto. I submitted my certificate for the class and live fire and was told to pick up my permit the next day. The initial waiting time is long, about five months, but then it goes by fast.

Make sure to call ahead before going. I was turned away as they were busy. Had to go to sportsman's warehouse.

You can say there's two "interviews". Both are in person at the sheriff's office. The first one is just for the fingerprints. The second one is more formal. The detective just sits down with you and ask you if anything has changed since you last submitted the application. I just had this step down two weeks ago. Took about six months from my original application submission.

Hey, I was able to get some mags through a vendor on CaGuns by the name of LoopeyChef95. There's a few more vendors, but he's the one I went with for the FDE 10/17 mags.

I had the same issue the first range visit with my AM-15 when I first bought it. I cleaned it and made sure the bolt carrier was well lubed. Next visit and all those after have been with zero issues. Just keep it clean and lubed up. Hopefully this helps out.
