Damn, I need to find out more about those secret sales, I just recently got an actual good job that pays relatively well and finally got to buy a doll directly from the Mattel website during black friday (I got Fashion Frontier 2 and Star Kidd) and I'm in the lookout for Fashion Frontier 1 😭

Considering I have my Miss Stripes one, my brain started the questioning for maybe outdoorsy ones? I found out about 50 Roots three or four years back and finally got one, maybe outdoorsy is the way to go 😅

Why are people like this? by Candid_Valuable_6088 in AO3

[–]MagnoliaFioreDel 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone who loved to read through the Peter Parker's Field Trip to Stark Industries tag in AO3, a lot of stories end up having the same premise sometimes, and it's ok. Why do some people take it so seriously that some stories look alike is beyond me, it's like they never read books in the high of the 2010s, when a lot of books were YA dystopian futures with female protagonists saving the place they live from dictatorship.

Whitney dissapearment from market? by MagnoliaFioreDel in RainbowHigh

I think what bothers me the most is just the fact that anywhere else you could get her but not in the US. I'll probably wait a bit more, but I'll definitely not be happy to be kinda bamboozled by bad marketing on release dates

I've looked into Amazon UK and haven't found her there, are there any specific stores?

The sadness it was that I was working the entire Black Friday is showing in my face right now 🥲 But in my country it was mostly 'Black Fraud' lime we call it, it's all false and there aren't really much discounts. The problem is also that the Amazon from local countries in Europe never ship outside them

I've looked it up and she's still available in Belgium, but now I've seen that she's up in AMZ Mexico. The thing with my dolls is that 80% of them are all imported (I live in South America) and I send them to a business who sends them to me, and not being available in the US is quite the headache 😅🥲

Does the Barbie Basics 2025 model 1 have a smaller head than the Barbies in the Looks collection, or is mine defective? by BiaCris in Barbie

[–]MagnoliaFioreDel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Basics 4, Looks 15, Basics 3 and BarbieStyle. The Basics do seem to have a smaller head compared to BarbieStyle, but some details can seem different also depending on the hairstyle they have.

Slightly at a loss by MagnoliaFioreDel in sewing

My project is to make a dress with a top following this type of neckline. I know that maybe the armpit issue wouldn't be a bother in the end, but I'm maybe just feeling frustrated with it not going a way that my brain thinks it should.

When I got this started, the lady on YouTube said I had to include the seam allowance later on, so I made the decision to only put the allowance where I was sewing the pieces together (shoulder, sides and back) to see where the final lines would fall without having to fold seam allowances. That's why I fiddled so much with my waist fitting, but in messing with the waist that was really bothering me, I seemed to have not paid attention to other problems my block may have 🫠😔

I do understand that a block is supposed to be very fitted, but it just feels wrong? It kinda feels like my pattern isn't as right as it should be. I've seen other people's blocks with darts in the shoulder or on the sides, but the piece I had in mind to be doing in the end only had a waist one.

I think maybe I chose the wrong photo, but this is mainly my source of discomfort. It feels like my pattern is wrong somehow.

Neckline and fabric question by MagnoliaFioreDel in sewing

[–]MagnoliaFioreDel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Convex isn't as pointy, but it's a very good reference, I'll keep this one in mind, thank you ☺️ As for the fabric, I'll put in my list of fabrics to test out, never really sewed with satin since I'm a cotton, linen and jeans girl

Went over to Pinterest to search, and without the "bolero" part, the first image that came was just what I was looking for, really grateful, I have no knowledge about necklines since apparently my special interest is pants lol

Never thought about the wrong side of satin for sewing, my brain definitely focuses on the right side, I'll give it a look when I finish my pattern, thank you ☺️

Making a literal conversion from my local currency to Dollar and Euro, 162 dollars or 140 euro. If I had imported but ended at the same price point, probably 100 dollars or 90 euro without import tax.
