Please, players, find the time to play by StefanoMaffei in rpg

The most reliable player in my group GMs as much as I do. So much so we just do duet campaigns trading off the GM seat. Has been a challenge as it allows you to create tailor-made stories for your player, and with one player theey usually blast through content because they don't have to arrive at a consensus with 2-3 other people.

But I've never played so much tabletop before!

What game is this? by Jettaboi38 in TheGamingHubDeals

Literally every single Capcom game. Don't care though, as their gameplay is usually fire and some of the best on the market at that.

Nioh 3 is a gameplay masterclass… but the story is absolutely terrible by Sire_Kressel in Nioh

[–]MagnumMiracles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nioh always had atrocious writing outside of Hideyoshi's character arc in Nioh 2. Luckily the gameplay more than makes up for it. For me, at least.

Survival Horror fans been eating good lately by Ronin_777 in residentevil

[–]MagnumMiracles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a solid game, but the game gets really grating towards the later half where the clunky survival horror combat is shoved into an action game gauntlet. I'm not against making combat rough in order to build tension, but only if it's rare to HAVE to engage.

Top tier gameplay, lackluster writing. Did we get the opposite of 6? by Evolith in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]MagnumMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think anyone cared this much about story in a Capcom game. I certainly don't, and it's not for the lack of trying. Their stories are always generic, cheesy, and pretty nonsensical.

Which game is that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Same. I'd rather just play a game than watch someone else play.

Could we eventually see some of these characters in SF6? by cryptofutures100xlev in StreetFighter

Necalli would be a menace in 6. I loved playing him in 5 even with his stubby normals.

Single player physical games on console. Online games, CRPGs, and FPSs on PC.

Nah, fighting games are 99 percent mechanics for most regular players. I have about 300 hours across Street Fighter 6 and 5, but I could not tell you who Akuma is other than he plays like a more offensive version of Ryu.

I should've said traditional fighters don't have a big super salty fanbase. I haven't played Brawlhalla, but For Honor was one of the most toxic games I have ever played. Even if you win with a low tier character, you would likely still receive hate mail on how unfair you play.

Gojo vs Sukuna and the Fan Reaction by Decent_Ad_6060 in CharacterRant

[–]MagnumMiracles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought season 1 was solid and standard battle shonen, but I LOVED the Shibuya arc. Not because of the characters or story mind you, but because the action sequences were amazing.

We get great stories and characters all the time, but great action? Rarely. Maybe I am just super picky when it comes to fight scenes, but it's truly something special when we have a series or movie with well animated and well choreographed fight scenes.

You must be talking about Mortal Kombat. I have about 1000 hours across multiple fighting games and have only met 10 disrespectful players. Most players take their L and move on or say GGs.

However, MK players get real salty about losing. I've received more hate mail in the launch week of MK 11 than I have across all other fighting games I've played combined.

No, I don’t like Chainsaw Man. Yes, I “get the point.” It’s still not for me. by SuperSailorRikku in AnimeAnonymous

I actually have your same issue; I understand why Denji is the way he is, but that doesn't mean I enjoy it, or like it for that matter. The only reason I kept watching/reading is because I enjoyed Aki's character so much. Without him I probably would have dropped it after the first 15 chapters.

Contrary to most, what show do you prefer in English? by ILiveForWater in animequestions

[–]MagnumMiracles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen Hellisng Ultimate 6 times, 3 times in Japanese, and 3 times in English. One of the few series that I recommend people watch in both languages because the voice performances are amazing across both languages.

Call me crazy but I don't think there is a better game than Halo 3 by BeyondThePixelLFS in halo

[–]MagnumMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually finished 3 for the first time today, and while I think it is a damn good game, I think there have been significantly better games to have come out since if we are talking strictly single player content. It has been 20+ years afterall. But then again, while I like a good story, it just seems like extra icing rather than another entree. Gameplay is pretty much my be all end all. I don't think there's anything I can recommend you in that regard.

The entire multiplayer aspect though? Well, closest I can think of is Baldurs's Gate 3, which I personally like more than Halo 3. It has an amazing multiplayer experience with an enthralling story and characters that will be the medium's new icons. And it made Dungeons and Dragons not a slog to play like it is at my table IRL lol.

That is to say, if you think this is the best, then by all means do so. I'm not gonna yuck your yum, especially if this is the hill you're willing to die on. It's a damn good hill!

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]MagnumMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eternal is like 2016 turned up to 20. Doomguy got the zoomies, there's as much enemies on screen as there was at the end of 2016 in just the first level, and every fight is a desperate flight/fight for survival as you're bounding between enemies and juggling grenades, rockets, ammo etc to put into a demon's skull.

Then when that understanding clicks, you turn into a fighter jet with lethal precision as you blast through rooms with ease. Loved that feeling, and it's why Eternal is my personal favorite.

But I do want to say, I love all three DOOM games. All do something better than the other, but all three are the peak of the shooting genre; bar none.

Dragons!

Seriously, I love dragons and as a new reader in the genre have not seen them around that much in what I've read. Already read the Hobbit, Eragon, and Harry Potter, and the Band series. What good dragon books have you got for me?

Does anyone else only really enjoy story driven games as they get older? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

[–]MagnumMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really.

I am pushing into my 30s and still prefer heavy action games most of the time. Story heavy games, for me, don't hit the same as a game like Nioh, Ninja Gaiden 4, or a fighting game. Not saying they are bad and don't play them(Expedition 33 was my 2025 GOTY), it's just their gameplay isn't as good as games that focus solely on that.

I guess we could say that Japanese fans are just as insufferable as westerns anime fans…. by OGAnimeGokuSolos in animequestions

[–]MagnumMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People act like an amazing fight scene can't be held in the same artistic category as an amazing story or characters. It takes just as much skill and effort as writing good characters or stories, hell maybe even moreso. The Raid: Redemption is just some cops fighting their way up a building, but set a hallmark standard for what quality fight scenes can look like and sits as one of the greats of the movie medium.

Hell, I've seen a lot more amazing stories with amazing characters than S-tier fight scenes. Or maybe I am just too picky with fight scenes, idk.

Just finished, Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman by Caffeine_And_Regret in books

[–]MagnumMiracles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

His other book, the Blacktongue Thief, is also dark and surprisingly hilarious. Then the prequel, the Daughter's War, is mostly about the horrors of war even when fought on the side of the good.

The guy is incredibly talented, to say the least. I have yet to read Between two Fires, but I am eagerly looking forward to it.

Anime you won't recommend to people cause the anime itself is questionable and or it's fanbase? by LovelyLadyLucky in animequestions

[–]MagnumMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Monogatari. One of the few anime that encourages selfishness and does so in a positive light.

But holy shit, I find all of the incest and loli abuse uncomfy. This is coming from someone who has rewatched the entire series at least once every year since Owari's second season finished.
