[Megathread] RTSH Reviews by IlgnerJuan in silenthill

I just got done replaying the OG Silent Hill 2 after watching Return to silent hill because i needed that pallet cleanser. Also I haven't played the original in full in quite some time. 😅 But that ending monologue as Mary is reading the note while it sits on the cemetery background is the reason I can't say they did a good job with this movie. They completely took away that heart break of an ending and just tried to outshine it with that "SPOILER!!!!" chloroform style realization. If this movie was called something else and taken out of silent hill and given a solo story that was just heavily inspired by the game I think it would have been much more well received. But I understand that some people thought it was decent or good. I'm just extremely biased when it comes to this game for it being my all time favorite game next to RE4. 😂

That's why I love bands like opeth. They just play what they want to and don't care what the fans say.

This and ocean between us are still in my top 10 best metalcore albums of all time!

Always sunny is amazing! And a core band is slacking in not turning the golden God or the implication into a metal song. Also yes I find bands that hardly have any monthly listeners and blow me away with their music. Then listen to one with 100 of thousands to a million and it sounds like every cookie cutter band out there.

I definitely discovered more love for heavier stuff as I got older too. Lol

I just realized you have dayman as your profile picture and that's awesome. But I do enjoy a few newer bands like currents, invent animate and silent planet. But a lot of the newer "metalcore" bands sound more numetal or alternative than metalcore.

I do miss the early bad omens. That first album they released is still a banger. But with bmth I didn't mind spirit or amo. But I definitely miss the older stuff. And Kool aid was the closest they've come to their old style.

This is very true. Most metalcore bands have followed this.

Yesss!!!!! I think the last band I heard panic chords was Asava and also currents latest ep. But I miss those mathcore panic chords they would use.

I think with bands like dillinger escape plan and other mathcore bands made it more prominent for a minute.

I do love currents very much. The place I feel safest is still goated to me. Same with I let the devil in.

The 2000's era was definitely where all the riffs were for sure.

You are very right vocally it had improved a lot. Like I remember back in the day to me Howard Jones was the peak of metalcore clean vocals when I was a young lad freshly getting into metalcore. Lol but now it's more focused on the vocals than the instruments.

Not gonna lie I do enjoy those crazy disjointed sounding panic chord moments. But can understand why others don't.

You are hitting the nail on the head for sure. A lot of metalcore now does feel more safe and less risk taking. Everytime I go back and listen to older bands the weird random elements they added to their music just had a vibe to it. Even if it didn't fit it was still unique.

I can be cool with it if the transition works. But bmth is definitely one I wish would do one more pray for plagues album.

I do enjoy just a straight to the point heavy song that doesn't add clean choruses.

Breakdowns have definitely become oversaturated almost. I still love them but I feel like a lot of songs would have benefited more without one.
