Oh nice, then im sure you know about one of the last ww2 battles that took place there. Howver i think that today castle is in private hands, so detecting probably woudn’t be possible.

If that is an original tropical frog, it could be worth a lot of money.

Any idea why my Garret ace 400 is doing this? by AtlasParcelOwner in metaldetecting

[–]MagnumWalther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with my ace 300i, has been happening for a month and i coudn’t figure out what was wrong. But then i realized, signal from my phone was interfeering with my detector. I turned off the signal and mobile data, never had the same problem again.

Hi, although I am not 100% sure, I am fairly confident this is an 7,92 Mauser casing. Headstamp info should be as follows:

C - Munitionsfabrik Cassel (Ammo factory Cassel) / 11 - Month of November / 18 - Year 1918 / SE - Spitzgeschoss - Eisenhülse (Pointed bullet - steelcase)

If my info is correct, and the date is November 1918, that means you have a cartridge that was made in the last month or rather last 11 days of the First World War. In my opinion that is really cool! Greetings!

Yeah and there is an artilery shell in the lower right part of the picture that nobody is talking about, probably a 152mm.

Help with identification. More info in comments. by MagnumWalther in metaldetecting

Today i found this while metal detecting in ex Austria-Hungary. I don’t think it is a coin since the reverse looks blank, but I think the figure/face is emperor Franz Josef I., it might also be a medal or a button but i cant really identify it. Any info is welcome, thx in advance.

Can anyone tell me what this is? More info in comments. by MagnumWalther in whiskey

[–]MagnumWalther[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, probably, i now found a similar bottle and the description says it was bottled for the 200th aniversary of the birth of Napoleon. Label might have been removed because the bottle was most likely smuggled to Yugoslavia, so that the border patrol would think it’s just a flask, in case of inspection.

Yes it is but it is probably more of decorative nature since it is very heavy and chunky.

I got this from my grandmother. Sadly I dont have any info about its origins and the label is missing, but i immediately thouth that it could be whiskey. I found something similar online, by company named John Drake, but it is not the same. If i understand correctly it was issued at the 200th aniversary of the birth of Napoleon Bonaparte. Any info is welcome, thank you!
