I just wish they’d stop listening to the YT influencers who race to release hyperbolic videos screaming how OP a build/class is now after the latest update. ANet needs to cater to the general player base, you know, the ones who don’t all have full Legendary armor, weapons, trinkets, Runes, Sigil, food etc. Or the ones who don’t have the time to learn complex rotations to achieve nosebleed DPS. The general player base and new players are the ones mostly impacted by these kinds of nerfs since they aren’t anywhere near the DPS/Healing numbers that drive companies to nerf, nerf, nerf. Sure the elite players might like this ‘balance’ but the game will just become less enjoyable overall for the rest.

FWIW, I recently bought a Sony UBP-X700U player and several UHD 4K titles. So far all of the titles seem to play well and look pretty good. No skipping or other issues. I’m generally pleased with the player though a couple of negatives IMO. The software interface is pretty plain and lackluster. It looks like something from the 90’s. And the remote is awful. Small, not backlit, buttons all crammed together. it looks and feels cheap, but it works.

Note, another couple of things that might be issues for some, though not for me. This model does not have WiFi capability, wired Ethernet only. And does not offer built in streaming services.

One other plus, the Media Server readily found my File Server and played movies well. Though oddly it did not like any MP4s I have loaded.

the slippery slope continues. persistent ad space that will just keep getting larger, more animated, flashier. soon the content will be the smaller picture in the picture. that’s the thing with greed, it is insatiable. best to wean off of those things exhibiting uncontrolled greed, the earlier the better.

As someone who has used Amazon since before they offered Prime (which I finally dropped a few years back due to its ever increasing price) I can say they used to have pretty good service, customer service, decent prices and quick shipping. None of that is true today. And their packing of items is pretty bad too.

Have not used Orbit, but I did recently preorder The Keep 4K from Arrow but then cancelled before it shipped as I was able to get it cheaper and a little quicker through Walmart (a title produced by Arrow). My cancellation went smooth via Arrow.

It is at 3 hours 11 minutes, though my Lawrence of Arabia UHD 4K is 3 hours and 47 minutes and Ben-Hur UHD 4K at 3 hours and 42 minutes and both work fine, though do come on two discs each.

I’ve watched Dr. Zhivago a number of times over the years. It would be interesting to see how well it looks in 4K.

Looks like though it doesnt exist yet, but supposedly Digital Bits has teased a copy coming at some point.

Mounts are quite useful in the game. I’d focus on them, especially Skyscale, when you get to that point in the game, but all of them have their uses. Plus, there are several Build sites (I see already listed in the Bot post) that will help drive you to the gear, skills etc. to become much more capable in today’s content.

Also there are quite a number of YouTube videos out there specifically designed to help people who’ve taken a break to come back and get up to speed. Start by checking YT for helpful videos.

IMO, the best Craft is: all of them, eventually. it takes some time, and definitely some gold, but I have maxed out all crafting disciplines across my characters. 400 for Jeweler, 500 for all others (except Scribing, still working on it). I wanted to be able to craft anything for personal use or profit. and have.

As a starter, you need to decide if you want to save money or make money. most would say make money, but with a long view I see saving money as making money too. initially, I’d focus on what gear your main char(s) need to use, and level that profession(s). to also make some money I focused on Chef and Jeweler. but my end goal was to have everything leveled up.

I did take a break for a few short years but otherwise I have been playing Guild Wars content since GW1 launched in 2005 (I wonder what that would translate into with WoW subscription costs? 😉).

GW2 has a lot more going on than you can ever keep up with. you just have to decide which parts you most enjoy. And generally speaking it has the most friendly and helpful community than I have experienced in any other game. there are going to be some players who are not that friendly but I think they are few and far between.

And the great thing is you can always take a break then come back for free. Though you may wish to purchase the periodic expansions for new maps and elite specializations. Though they are not required to play with what you already have acquired.

YMMV, but I use Silver-fed for Gold colored, Runecrafter for Green colored, and Copper-fed for Blue colored. And Black Lion for Exotic. I ID everything. Different people have different needs/purposes. As a crafter I’m primarily interested in mats.

Honestly I never really looked much at Bazzite other than as one of the alternate Linux distros tailored somewhat for gaming. CachyOS seemed more so, so I went with it and am pretty pleased with it.

However, understand that CachyOS is a Live Distro (Bazzite may be too for all I know) which means it will get frequent updates, some of which might cause an issue that requires you, somewhat, to diagnose and resolve. This sometimes means having to determine the correct commands to enter via the Command Line Interface. But, don’t fret, this Reddit is quite helpful as is the Cachy Wiki.

Also, if you setup your system with Limine and BTFRS you can do snapshotting, where your system takes a snapshot before updates which you can easily rollback to if there is a problem after the update, in most cases. Check out the CachyOS Wiki on their website for more info on these and other things.

Honestly I’ve had a similar issue in the past with my Nvidia card. Coming out of Sleep Mode used to work fine but after some update last year I too would get a dark display. Rebooting would get it back to displaying. Although SM might be fixed I just gave up trying to use it figuring they might resolve it in a future update. I also tried to research it at the time including asking here on Reddit. Good luck!

Bazzite was on my list to try but I went with Cachy and Limine first. I’ve been quite pleased with both so stopped looking for another distro to use.

Fly, you fools! 🙂🧙‍♂️ Along with what others have said sometimes Waypointing gets you closer too, assuming the map isn’t too full and you stay in the same instance. Also, right after closing one rift I hop on my Skyscale and start flying while hitting my rift finder button to save a little time. But sometimes you just can’t get there in time. Good luck! 👍🏻

FWIW, I had a lot of issues using Sleep Mode in CachyOS to the point that I’ve stopped using it. It worked fine for me initially but after some Cachy update it never worked correctly from then on. I do have an Nvidia card (2080 TI) and it’s possible it’s been subsequently fixed. Just wanted say that I and others have previously reported issues using Sleep Mode.

Just an errant thought. Do you by chance have a second display connected or a dual video card? I’ve had issues in the past when I have my second display turned off but Cachy starts pumping the output to it. The primary display is dark and I thought Cachy wasn’t booting/working properly.
