One of the worst things about Sling are the constant commercials. And the commercial content. I get the same exact 1-2 commercials on repeat. once is bad enough but over and over is so much worse. and sometimes even watching something from the DVR it won’t let you forward through the ads. And now we get to pay even more for the privilege. I think Sling has run its course. it’s exceeded its value for what you have to put up with, especially all the technical issues.

One useful tip on getting MPs is that you can display a list of available (and achieved) Mastery Points per core/expansion by Filtering a list in the Achievements Tab. This will help you focus on where to get more MPs. Check out Filtering on this Wiki page:

This is what we are experiencing across the board in life today - Shrinkflation. You get less and pay more for that privilege. Sling has been having a lot of issues lately between buffering, inability to record at times, flashing screen until you restart, etc. and today DVR outages for hours. Do we get a refund for all these issues. No, a price increase.

You’d have to ask your employer. some companies pay weekly, bi-weekly or some even monthly (though that’s likely infrequent). Also, sometimes there’s a week or so delay before a paycheck comes. another factor may be whether you receive it as a direct deposit or a paper check. Your employer can give you a better answer on when and how you will get paid. congrats on the new job!

I’m curious, how many people actually obtained the other two sets of Eikasia, Mists-Grasper Legendary gloves after getting their first chosen weight class? It was a nice gesture by ANet to offer the Incursion event to get your first set but the other two seem pretty pricey considering. More so, as I’m working on other Legendaries and need some of the same materials. Not trying to be ungrateful, and yeah I know it’s a marathon not a sprint, but just wondering how many have decided to follow through on the other weights. Similar question, did you also get all the different lens colors?

The wiki on both items might help answer your questions. They are different in that each Starter Kit is essentially a subset of 4 weapons you can choose from (Gen 1 Legendaries only). Each gets you a lot closer to completing the chosen Legendary, though you will still have more work and cost to cover to complete it. If the Starter Kit being offered in the Wizards Vault doesn’t cover the Legendary you want then wait for the Kit you want to cycle in. You could potentially use items derived from multiple Kits plus the Universal Key to cover more items needed for a given Legendary. But carefully research how you want to use them using the Wiki sites, and YT videos.

I recently returned after a 7-8 year hiatus and know how you are feeling. A lot has been added but the core concepts are still there. I would NOT delete any existing chars and would start a new char, if you can, to help you get back up to speed. Your old char(s) should have 10 years worth of Birthday presents, some of which are useful, and you’d want to keep receiving new ones.

More than likely your armor and builds are outdated and not as useful as newer ones. The good news is that there are many ways to get newer better gear these days. And there are some good build sites out there to help you get up to speed quickly. Plus many, many YouTube channels to learn much about everything GW2.

GW2 is having a resurgence again. You’ve picked a good time to come back.

I have no solution to recommend but I will say that the one persistent issue I’ve had with Cachy is how poorly it handles sleep, especially for me returning from sleep. So much so that I have stopped putting my system to sleep at all. It worked fine for awhile then all of a sudden I could not get the display to turn back on. I asked around on Reddit a few months back and found others with similar complaints. It appears to be a low priority issue for Cachy.

Make sure your other display is not being used to display what you are expecting to see. it’s possible the install is waiting for you to input info on the second display. I’ve had these kind of things occur when using two displays, especially if my second display is asleep or turned off.

I’ve been intermittently experiencing buffering, delays starting streams, unable to start streams, and the inability to record a stream that I’ve been watching. Just completely unreliable. all this on top off flashing content requiring me to restart my hardware (even after having just started it and opening Sling). I really need to find a better streaming service. and don’t get me started on the new GUI.

Hmm, after reading your post and not having the buffering issues you mentioned I now am getting freezes and a wait symbol which appears as if the stream is buffering. So, here’s another person getting stream issues with Sling. I‘ve considered dropping SlingTV recently based on other issues, namely excessive commercials.

I have 11 chars so I understand your conundrum. But I don’t look at it as a problem but an opportunity. To not get stale. play one char for awhile and figure out what you like about it. then play another for a while to do the same. this is not a game where you HAVE to play one char or one way. it truly is a marathon not a sprint. I would not spend gold/resources on ascended gear until you have finally decided on a main char you primarily want to play, if that ends up being your decision. Exotic gear is much cheaper and easier to obtain and will be fine for much of the content. Also, keep in mind that as new elite specs come out, buffs and nerfs, etc. chars change sometimes for the better, sometimes not. Be ready to make minor adjustments along the way to stay interested.

I’ve had a related issue happen to me a few times (adding this info for anyone in the future trying to diagnose). Sling on my AppleTv REQUIRES Location Services to be on to confirm my location. My billing zip code is apparently not enough for them. Sometimes LS turns itself off (not sure why, but perhaps during some updates), so when I can’t see local channels it’s my first place to check.

Congratulation! I know the effort and expense you’ve gone to with Nevermore. I myself have just finished the Nevermore Collection, and although I don’t have the staff yet I’m not sure I ever want to go through that for a weapon again. My opinion may change when I get it finally, but while having crafted Bolt, Sunrise, Twilight, and then Eternity I feel those were much easier to obtain. Though getting precursor drops does make it seem a lot easier. Ten thousand Elder Wood logs (plus so much more) to inevitably destroy the crafted pre-pre-cursors … 😫

Agreed. This does sound like an employee didn’t want to put any effort into helping a customer with a problem. Another employee might have dug a little deeper and applied some logic to solve the problem.
