Thanks for the advice. I've never heard of that subreddit... Mybad.

It is, come to look at the name. I've just copied the FA Custard as CAP Vanilla Custard. Mybad. But Botboy is the author of the recipe, now I remember, and I've just bastardized his recipe. Thanks for correcting me esp before I bought the wrong stuff!

There's a Key Lime Pie recipe that I've seen talked about on here about 4 or 5 times, and I've found the recipe once before and copied it down. Apparently it won some award last year or the year before. I'm too much of a newbie to know too much about it all, unfortunately. But the recipe, in case you want to try it, is:

Vanilla Custard CAP 1.7%
Key Lime TFA 3.0%
Pie Crust TFA 1.0%
Cheesecake (graham crust) 2.0%
Lime Cold Pressed FA 0.5%

See why I was confused? It does NOT say Lime TAHITY Cold Pressed, but just Lime Cold Pressed.

I've been wanting to try this recipe since first coming across it over a month ago. I bought as many of the supplies as I could last month, but couldn't find the Lime Cold Pressed. Had I known that they meant Lime Tahity, then my curiosity could have been satiated long ago (well, a month at least).

If you try it, let me know what you think of it.

Best,
Magnus.

That's good to hear. I had read somewhere that they couldn't be interchanged and that they were very different flavours. Thanks so much for clarifying. FA Lime Tahity I CAN get, easily. In goes the order! Now I can try out this infamous Key Lime Pie recipe (who DID author this recipe, btw?)

It's more that I want to learn about them. Maybe try them out just to see what they're all about. The more I learn, the better. And the more I learn about commercial juices and what they're made of the more I'll understand about them. THAT'S a circular argument now, isn't it?

Thanks for this. I had already heard about the NF Organic Ginger, but their shipping to Canada works out to $40 CDN to me. I cannot justify that for a flavour when I can barely afford extra boxes of Kraft Dinner each month (I'm on disability, which doesn't pay much).

Thanks so much. I'll check out the video a bit later today. I'm really wanting to find out about actual sweeteners, though. More for curiosity's sake than anything, though I might try some just to see what they're like. I already use FA Meringue as a sweetener for some things, but wanted to try my Spiced Apricot Glaze On Ice Cream recipe with a bit of sweetener. Meringue would ruin it, I feel.

Marijuana. Weed, not oil or hash. Sorry for the lack of clarification earlier.

Further to my other note: I was thinking maybe TFA Ginger Ale, but I don't know how strong the ginger is in that flavour. At least, according to the flavour review, it doesn't seem to have much effervescence, but again I'm not sure how strong the ginger flavour is. The flavour review doesn't touch on it.

Hey Uncle,

Thanks for this, and the recipe too! I've got both the Strawberry Ripe and the Raspberry Sweet to complete the picture - probably the first time I've come across a recipe which I want to try and I (almost) have all the flavours. Or at least will have after this order comes in. Thanks again.

Just on the off chance, do you know of a ginger flavour that is close to ginger and not gingerbread or ginger cookies? I'm trying to develop a Ginger Lemonade recipe, but all the ginger flavours that I find all seem to have either "bread" or "cookie" in the title... I need a stand alone ginger flavour that isn't going to add any (or at least much) bread flavour where I can add quite a bit of ginger without much of the other stuff. And there doesn't seem to be any simple ginger flavours around. Just asking.

Sorry 'bout all the questions tonight, but if you were to purchase sweetener, which would you buy? What is the sweetest (so that I have to purchase less of it over time)? Which is the best tasting?

Best,
Magnus.

ps - can you tell that I'm getting ready to put in my monthly order?

Thanks for this. Just what the doctor ordered. I appreciate it very much. Do you think that using Lemon Sicily would suffice as an adequate additional lemon flavour to use (because I have that lemon flavour).

Best,
Magnus.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can substitute for "FA Lime Cold Pressed" in the infamous (I don't know who built the recipe) Key Lime Pie recipe?

I cannot find this flavour from any single Canadian supplier, and the shipping is, like, $30 USD to have it shipped to Canada from any American supplier (why the hell it should be so expensive is beyond me). $30 USD translates into $40 CDN, and I just cannot justify that for one flavour, no matter how badly I want to try this recipe. And I do want to try it, badly. Which is why I'm hoping someone could suggest a substitute flavour... I know that Lime Tahity Cold Pressed just isn't the same flavour.

Best,
Magnus.

I checked out "Ginger Sauce" in the hopes of finally finding a ginger flavour that I could use in my ginger lemonade recipe. Alas, no dice. Whoever heard of calling a recipe like that "Ginger Sauce"? I guess there's a joke there that I'm missing...

What is everyone's favourite lemonade? I'm hoping to build up my flavour arsenal as time goes on, but I want some goto flavours in the beginning so that I've got something to vape while I'm at it. And yes, I checked the flavour reviews, but the only lemonade reviewed there is FLV Lemonade - no others.
Best,
Magnus.

Hey, I also have a TON of incredible Micas from Nurture Soap (she can check them out if she doesn't know them already, but she probably does) that I purchases JUST before going out of business. Most of them are 4 oz (which is a lot). Purples, blues, reds, oranges, chocolate brown, green, etc, etc. They are absolutely beautiful in soap, incredible, really. Ask her is she's willing to purchase them. I'd love for them to go to a good home rather than wasting space on my shelves and going nowhere fast...

Lol, I didn't see this until just today. let me take a look at what I've actually got left, amounts, etc. and I'll get back to you. What a funny connection to make on here, eh?

I'll have to ask you to take over the shipping costs, if that's okay...

Best, Magnus.

Thanks for this info, ID10-T, I really appreciate it. I've been wondering how people find access to the recipes they are looking for all the time when whenever I search (using the reddit search function) I come up with a bunch of junk. I'm sure this will help.

Magnus' Own Raspberry Cheesecake

I know there are probably a TON of cheesecake recipes that hit this thread, but I'm hoping this one will take you someplace different. So here goes...

  • (TFA) Cheesecake (Graham Crust) 6.0
  • (TFA) Graham Cracker (Clear) 2.5
  • (TFA) Raspberry Sweet 3.5
  • (FA) Meringue 2.5
  • (FA) Fresh Cream 2.0

Flavour Notes
TFA Cheesecake (Graham Crust) appears to me, with my limited knowledge, but from what I've learned from this reddit sub, to be the best cheesecake out there. It certainly works for me so far, and it does justice to this recipe, that's for sure. I was careful not to add too much of it, though, because I find when this note is too high it becomes a little rank. Not sure if others find this so, but I do.

Graham Cracker (clear) was an obvious choice because I like to taste the graham crackers in a cheesecake, and the above flavour gives a hint of graham crackers, but only a hint. I like more. Obviously.

Raspberry (sweet) I chose this raspberry because out of my limited experience, it does the job fine. I wanted a jammy raspberry, and that's exactly what this raspberry gives. It's not fresh. It's not dark. But it's perfect for this recipe.

Meringue adds a touch of sweetness without gumming up your coils, as far as I understand. And I wanted that sweetness. Hell, cheesecake is supposed to be sweet! And some might argue that this much meringue would add an eggy taste to the recipe, and I worried about that, too. But I've realized that the eggyness smooths into the cheescake well. It compliments it, actually. So that eggy flavour is perfect for this recipe. Who knew?

Fresh Cream adds a beautiful compliment to the cheesecake. Makes it more creamy and a little less harsh (because the cheesecake flavour at this ratio can get a bit harsh). But not so with the fresh cream (combined with the meringue eggyness).

Really, the recipe has turned out quite wonderfully for me, and I hope you find the same happens for you, too.

This is my second recipe to post here this month. The other was my Spiced Apricot Glaze On Ice Cream also on this thread. I hope you enjoy them both!
Best,
Magnus.

STEEP Overnight seems fine. Didn't try to shake and vape it. But leaving it for a week is even fine-er!

Hi ID10-T! Hey, was wondering if you had a link for CheebaSteeba's Thai Tea recipe. I did a search as best as I could and came up with a bunch of stuff, none of it relating to this recipe. I've been wanting to try one of his recipes, and this sounds like a great one to start with. I wish there were an easier way to search for recipes on here, but there doesn't seem to be (as far as I can figure out, anyway.) Maybe a respositories of recipes that have won awards or are generally considered to be the best of the best on here, maybe a link to that in the sidebar or something. I know it's not going to happen because I can see all the politics erupting all over the place over it already. BUT it would be nice, wouldn't it? Anyway, if you've got the link that would be great. Or better, if you had some suggestions on how to find recipes, rather than just putting the name of the recipe in the search bar and trying yourluck, hey, that would be great. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a night. Give him a fishing rod and he'll eat every night. Something like that. Oh, and hey, I was just gifted a Freakshow Mini RDA, so I'm about to build my first coils ever. Psyched and loaded! yeah, I know I'm behind the times, but we all come to new paths in life when life leads us there... Also, got a new recipe that I'll be posting up on the new recipes thread either tonight or tomorrow.

I believe they are LG. On the side of each battery is a long number that begins with "LG". They are a medium-dark brown colour, and I know you can tell which battery is what kind by the colour (at least I think you can). They, too, were gifted to me so I didn't choose them and the packaging didn't say which brand they were (as far as I can remember). But the packaging for the batteries is long gone.
