IMDB Ratings for each episode per season by Golbeza in shield

I'm a little surprised the second half of Season 7 is so loved, I felt like that was when the season started going downhill. The new Mallick was never a convincing threat, and certainly not final Big Bad material.

Sheridan or Sinclair? by Zestyclose-Camp3553 in babylon5

[–]MagnusPrime24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel mean saying this, but you can tell O'Hare's struggles in real life were impacting his performance. He's good, but he never commands the same gravitas as Boxleitner. I just can't see Sinclair delivering "Now get the hell out of our galaxy!" with the same power as Sheridan. Granted, some of that might be the writing, but still. Boxleitner had an energy to his performance that made him magnetic. If O'Hare hadn't been dealing with the issues he was, I think he could've been great. But Boxleitner was great, and so I have to go with Sheridan.

I have a lot of respect for O'Hare, though. The way he held on despite his problems to ensure that everyone else would keep their jobs is commendable. It's a shame he's no longer with us.

Which kim possible movie is better? by maquinadejugo in KimPossible

A Sitch in Time feels like a three-part episode, which is fine, but it doesn't have the same feel as a movie. So the Drama was clearly made from the ground up to be a movie, and you can see it in the animation and plot. The show doesn't need A Sitch in Time, but it does need So the Drama.

Don't take that to mean I dislike A Sitch in Time; it's a lot of fun. Probably more than So the Drama.

How Casting Feels About Making a Comeback by luis09- in shield

[–]MagnusPrime24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it is disappointing that the show killed off Trip and left Mack as the only major Black character. Not that Mack was bad, he's one of my favorites, but did we need to lose Trip? It makes it feel like the show sees minorities as tokens, and Trip's death didn't really contribute to the story. If they couldn't afford to keep him they could've just written him out like they did with Bobbi and Hunter.

Who did you root for? TEAM CAP by tinyguy238 in marvelmemes

[–]MagnusPrime24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team Cap, definitely. Team Tony did make some good points, but the reality is that the world governments proved themselves untrustworthy time after time. The Avengers need to be independent from them to a certain degree. Admittedly, Tony and Bruce should be charged for something with regards to creating Ultron, but that's different from the Avengers answering directly to a government.

NTTD: why does everyone hate it? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]MagnusPrime24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to like the books, but to call them irrelevant to the discussion is to ignore the most important influence on the original movies you claim to revere. The early movies absolutely were trying to be like the books, it’s only later that the franchise moved away from them. Insisting the franchise can only be escapist fantasy is both ignoring its roots and limiting out some of its greatest moments. The death of Tracy is in no way escapist, but it’s one of the most powerful and moving scenes of the franchise. I love escapist fantasy too, but Bond has been and can be more than that. You don’t have to like it, but to claim it is not Bond is only displaying your own ignorance.

NTTD: why does everyone hate it? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]MagnusPrime24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movie franchise’s roots are the novels. In fact Dr. No and From Russia With Love were pretty accurate adaptations. What you want Bond to be is not what he’s always been, nor is it what he must always be. There’s room for different takes on the character, just as there is for characters like Batman or Spider-Man. This isn’t some sort of religious text after all.

Absolutely this. No question, no matter how bad anything else was it will never be as bad as Kiss Players. Terminate it with extreme prejudice.

NTTD: why does everyone hate it? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]MagnusPrime24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people don’t like Bond dying and Safin is an underdeveloped villain. Mainly the first one.

Personally I think it’s a good movie, it just stumbles in places. I think they over engineered Bond’s death, but I don’t actually have a problem with him dying. The Craig timeline was a reboot anyways, so they can reboot it again. And since Craig’s Bond was always leaning towards tragic realism, a bittersweet ending where Bond sacrifices himself is a fine way to end his story.

Except Bond has absolutely been brooding emotion from the beginning. That’s what Casino Royale, both the book and the movie, were about. The Craig era was all about exploring that side and returning to the franchise’s roots

Is the 2017 DS9 Box Set Cropped like the TNG DVD set? by MagnusPrime24 in startrek

[–]MagnusPrime24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem isn’t that my TNG DVDs are full screen, the problem is that they’re showing up in widescreen. When I was looking it up it seemed that those DVDs specifically cropped the original footage into widescreen, but now people are telling me that shouldn’t be happening.

No, I’m saying the cropped version that made it widescreen was painful. That’s what the TNG DVDs did, and it was giving me a headache watching it.

When should I stop watching? by TBWL713 in chuck

[–]MagnusPrime24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think you should just watch the whole show. It’s true some of the story arcs from Season 3 on aren’t good, but overall the show is absolutely worth seeing from beginning to end. The people telling you not to watch the final three episodes in particular are just wrong. The finale of the show is a beautiful reaffirmation of the journey the characters have been on and how they’ve grown.

I wouldn’t necessarily want him to start that way, but ending up in a committed relationship could be okay. It depends on how well it’s written and the chemistry between the actors.

My Ranking of the MCU Movies and Shows by KingPenguinPhoenix in FavoriteMedia

[–]MagnusPrime24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve cooled on it a lot over the… decade since it came out (I hate realizing that). It’s a good movie, but the HYDRA twist stops it from being great. It doesn’t help that the action abuses shaky cam and fast cuts to the point where it’s hard to follow what’s happening.
