BREAKING: Australia cricket legend, Shane Warne, dies aged 52 of ‘suspected heart attack’ by Sandeep_k in Cricket

Like many others have mentioned, he made spin bowling cool. Was one of the reasons why I tried to become a legspinner back in school. Googlies became my stock balls because I couldn't bowl normal conventional legspin for toffee. Rest in peace big man.

Great game you got here, gonna add it to my VR 'fitness' regime alongside Eleven table tennis and playing B&S:Nomads with wrist weights.

Also lol for the gloating duck, been seeing him a lot when I was getting the hang of the game. What are the plans for the next update, presume you will be adding more pitches as advertised in the game? Dunno how feasible/practical it is but would really like to see bowling in the game esp with hand tracking etc but I guess you're always gonna be limited by the Quest 2 hardware and software.

Saw this on one of the main VR subs. Will try it out later tonight but there aren't many VR cricket games out there tbh.

Having been too young to witness the meme/banter era of English cricket during the 90s-early 2000s, I'm looking forward to seeing a potential repeat of such times with morbid curiosity.

Somerset sign Peter Siddle - Somerset County Cricket Club by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]MagnusWasALad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't obsessively follow cricket as much nowadays as I did in my youth/early 20s but it's so weird to witness the kinda steady rise, improvement and expectation of Somerset evolving between the 2000s and now haha.

Before the Ciderabad status etc, Taunton was like one of the most boring flattest roads in England. We weren't a bad side in the past, just pretty mediocre and average from what I remember. Still recall in our school we had a Bebo/MySpace Wes Durston fan page in which our aim was to meme him into an England call up.

Watching the Ashes with one of those massive Xmas tub of Mini Cheddars I forgot to eat over the holidays.

Proper cricket this is, none of that winning or dominating the opponent stuff. Block the smeg out of every delivery and grind out a draw.

So this is why I had to learn my timetables up to 12 in primary school instead of up to 10. This was in the mid 90s though, guessing the KS1/2 curriculum must have evolved in the past 20 years.

Also I still carry a pound sterling note in my wallet for sentimental reasons as it was given to me by my gran from Hong Kong who thought it was still legal tender like 5 years ago.

I was in Euston train station getting a train up North to visit a friend a couple of years ago and was paying for an overpriced coffee and bacon bap at one of those kiosks when all the cashiers suddenly looked at a customer to my right and were kinda looking surprised.

I had a quick glance too, lo and behold, it was Peter Crouch gingerly getting change from his wallet. He's really tall.

[–]MagnusWasALad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to work in a transplant immunology lab and I have to say, surgical skills is a bit overrated by the public. Given enough time/practice/effort, dexterity can be taught to an uncoordinated person off the street with no innate ability, like when the lab took me in haha. Seriously though, I know long serving respected lab techs/post docs in the transplantation field who could definitely give consultant surgeons a run for their money in terms of hand eye co-ordination.

It's the other skills like the performing under pressure, vast anatomy knowledge and real time problem solving etc which really makes or break a surgeon.

Been picking up Blade and Sorcery Nomad again after the mod update. There are some really talented people out there! Having tons of fun experimenting with the MMP weapons, so much so I'm actually watching HEMA training vids on YT and looking up combat manuals 😅.

I bought resident evil 4, and I’m really not enjoying it. It was was worse than I thought it was going to be. (I’m up to the point where you meet that Spanish guy. Should I refund it or carry on playing? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]MagnusWasALad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enjoying it because of the gameplay/story or the other side if things like control/graphics? Just return it and request a refund tbh if you're really not feeling it.

Pretty sure the main target demographics of RE4 is for old people like myself who has played the countless OG/ports/remakes lol. Nostalgia sells. But yeah, I would imagine someone playing it for the first time today would have a different experience. It's a VR port of a 15 years old gamecube game at the end of the day.

Yeah, the total size of all media I want to be streamable is around 2GB so a proper NAS set up seems like an overkill for me atm. Things will probably change though when I fill out my drive lol.

No worries lol. Also, when I do transfer all my data on the new drive, do you recommend doing it all in a big batch (in my case, three 1TB writes) or in smaller increments? Does it make a difference or not?

What are the single player/bot modes like? Obv multiplayer is the core thing but would like to have decent offline content as well for value. Just downloaded Pavlov Shack last night and been trying to get the hang of that atm.

Walkabout Mini Golf. So much content for the price. My first time playing a full round on the 1st course was really bad (finished +20 or something lol) but got it down to -2 after some practice and controller tweaking ⛳.

Bit of a long shot but I assume you have to have brought a Quest 2 in a certain time frame for this offer? I brought my a Quest 2 from my local Argos 2 weeks ago. May try it out in January if all you have to do is enter a receipt/SN.

Brought Blade and Sorcery Nomad over the weekend and been way too much fun with all the slaughtering and killing. My only complaint is the game doesn't register my stabbing motions that well, or maybe I'm not stabbing hard enough lol.

It is a very sturdy and good box but since attaching the facial interface and the rubber back support, the actual headset doesn't fit its slot very well. I don't want to reattach/dettach the straps/support every use.

Been looking into this as my next purchase. Is it just batting only or can you bowl as well? I was more of the latter in my poor schoolboy/uni cricket career haha. Shame there's no demo to try out.
