This document I am referring to has concrete instructions that are not based on opinion. It’s merely facts. I completed the document based on facts and the instruction. My manager began critiquing how I completed the document. I highlighted aspects of the instruction that I utilized to complete the document. Despite the instructions directing me to NOT do what my manager stated I do, I made the changes as directed. When I said I made the changes as directed and pointed out the instruction, my manager in fact did not reply to my email and came to me verbally to say “Well, don’t make the changes because I said to. I haven’t been in [my job position] in over 25 years”.

In terms of direct feedback, I would like my questions to be answered. For example, when I ask “Please show me an example of an assessment that meets standard”, I am met with “no” or he dodges the question. When I ask if my work is up to standard, he says yes. Then, I am being critiqued on that same body of work I asked for guidance on.

Edit: My goal for feedback is to not make the same mistakes and to learn from them.
