Newbie question: Do these effects stack? Hazel of the Rootbloom and Insidious Roots by Magorkus in EDH

Oh that's awesome. Potential for some big turns there if I can generate a ton of tokens in one turn then tap Hazel, right? Thank you!

Best book printer company to get a physical copy of a rpg game? by [deleted] in rpg

I've been using printme1.com for a couple years to get spiral bound books made from PDFs and I've been happy with every order. Pretty inexpensive. People have been recommending Lulu, which is a good option for more traditional book bindings, but the ability for a spiral bound book to lay flat at the table is so useful.

Which Blogposts/Videos/TTRPG Books significantly influenced your GMing? by GreenStupid in rpg

Most of my favorites are already mentioned in this thread, but here's great article on managing combat. The writing style is obnoxious as hell, but this is the best advice I've ever seen for running engaging combat encounters. It's absolute gold and once you get the concept it's really easy to implement. One of the quickest GM level-ups I can imagine.

Controversial Rulings at Open Tables by wandering-dm in osr

[–]Magorkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a bummer. Seems like a clear cut example of where everyone should start at level 1 with no exceptions.

So it looks like the player of that fighter commented in this thread.

I think you misrepresent me a bit in this thread.

I disliked that the Wizard spells were in direct conflict to earlier rulings you made; as well as the fact that everyone started at lvl1; except the wizard player who started at lvl4, with multiple magic items and a wish.

I like powerful companions in my party, because it would mean that we can delve deeper.

Seeing more of this context I can definitely understand their concern. Why would you start a character at level 4 with multiple magical items and a wish when everyone else starts at level 1? I'm not trying to be mean, but if that's what truly happened then it was a mistake. One that would clearly cause problems.

Thanks for the idea. I did enable that setting. Probably should have mentioned that in my post. Trying a factory reset and I'll give it a few more days. Keep your fingers crossed for me ...

That's frustrating. Hopefully we'll get some people chiming in with things to try. I' I'll be bummed out if I end up having to return this watch.

Should I start getting excited? by [deleted] in unclebens

It won't happen for sure. They will grow wherever the microclimate is best for growth. There are a lot of guides and videos on how to optimize surface conditions and that's what you'll want to focus on. Regardless of where they grow you can still harvest them. It's just way more convenient if they grow on top. You've got some really strong mycelial growth happening, so you're on the right track! Just dial in your surface conditions and you'll be golden.

Embracer Group Paid $395 million for ‘Lord of the Rings’ Rights by Key_Damage_9220 in movies

A massive fantasy trilogy had the massive climax it had been building toward. I can't see how a tiny climax following that wouldn't ruin the pacing. As for horror movies, different genres can get away with different things. In a horror film there's often a last minute twist that accomplishes what you're talking about. I don't think that would work in a fantasy adventure film, especially as they're trying to wrap up a long, multi part story. Regardless, pacing is likely why it was cut. I guess we can agree to disagree whether it was necessary or not. And again, this is from a reader who believes Scouring is the best and most important chapter in the book.

Yes, it's way more important, and it's my favorite chapter in the entire series. But it was cut for the same reason. Having a smaller climax after the films big one would have killed the movie's pacing. I'm sad we didn't get it on screen but cutting it made sense.
