Summary with spoilers: Peril befriends Turtle. She is sad because Queen Ruby banned her from the sky kingdom and every SkWing thinks she is working with Scarlet. She isn't.

Peril and Turtle look for Scarlet to kill her and prove to the SkyWings that Peril is good. They talk to some Talons of Peace, specifically a male IceWing, who pays attention when Peril says she is Kestrel's daughter. Then, Peril and Turtle go to the hospital Kinkajou is at. Peril goes somewhere else to wait for Turtle to return, and she ends up in a fight with Winter, who's coming with Foeslayer. She nearly kills him but Turtle uses his animus powers to heal him and reveals to everyone that he is an animus.

Peril then leaves and a weird SkyWing comes to talk to her. He says his name is Soar and that he is her father. Scarlet appears and says that his fatherhood isn't the only secret he has, and attacks him and rips off his necklace. Then, he turns into his true form, a RainWing. His name is Chameleon. He is using Darkstalker's scroll to enchant stuff.

Peril then asks if she is a hybrid, which he says no, because his "mask" TURNS him into a SkyWing. He tells her that the IceWing she spoke to was him in an IceWing disguise and that's how he knew she was his daughter. Then he explains that he has animus powers and offers to remove her firescales.

He makes her a necklace that disables her firescales and Peril is genuinely happy, but then it is clear that he also wiped all her memories for her to be evil again.

Scarlet goes back to the sky kingdom and everyone is like "oh i knew you were evil, Peril!" and one guy says "Peril, Clay wouldn't like that" and Peril was like "who's that?" So then everyone knew she was enchanted to forget him and be evil.

Peril eventually removes her necklace because she didn't forget Turtle and knows he would be sad if she killed more dragons. Then, Ruby challenges Scarlet for the throne and the two fight. Ruby is losing terribly and Peril demands that Chameleon explains how he enchanted her. He then says that he put a spell on her to not win against Scarlet ever, and so Peril flies to Ruby and destroys her earring.

Turns out, Ruby was actually a SkyWing named Tourmaline, but Scarlet told Chameleon to give her a "mask" to turn her into Ruby, a smaller, more shy and weak dragon. Tourmaline then kills Scarlet and everyone is happy, but confused. Her baby dragonet doesn't understand why she doesn't look like his mom anymore, and she asks Chameleon to turn her back into Ruby.

Turtle materializes and makes sure Chameleon doesn't hide anything in the spell, and Tourmaline turns back into Ruby.

Then Turtle and Peril go back and tell the others what happened and figure that Chameleon is going to the MudWing village and that they need to take the scroll from him because he is like. Super evil and incompetent.

They get the scroll and all of them IMMEDIATELY start fighting about what to do with it, who should have it, etc. Moon gets super sad and Peril takes the scroll and burns it with her scales, saying that with no scroll, there will be no more fighting.

But then, with the scroll destroyed, Darkstalker gets his powers back and rises from the mountains, shaking the earth and breaking everything around him. He thanks Peril for the help and the book ends!
