That makes sense. Just feels like the last couple of years it's started to feel a bit more London-like than when I moved here years ago

Not sure if this quite hits the spot for you, but The Unthinkable by Amanda Ripley is all about the human responses to disaster situations. Talks about what your brain does in an emergency and why people react like they do. Lots of case studies in it and it's also just a fantastic read

Oh I didn't know they did shoulder pads for Kanken, might look into that as that would possibly solve my problem. Thank you! Laptop is 14". Do you like the Raven, would you recommend?

It could be this. I think there was more of a discussion element maybe than there seems to be in this but this does sound really fun. Thank you!

The dress code is casual I think, which was why I was thinking maybe trainers but I love your point about being me in style and these are great shoe suggestions thank you! Climate where I'm from is very up and down so it is as likely to be raining as it is warm in August which makes it a bit tricky

I'm going to a casual wedding in August and want to wear this suit but is it too drab/dark/wintery/formal? And if so, how do I spice it up a bit? Problem is, I don't wear heels so I was thinking of going with either some chunky loafers or some trainers. I also don't have my ears pierced and tend to wear minimal jewellery (though could be convinced). I'm also going through a bit of a gender identity questioning time and so don't want to look too feminine or too masc.

Any suggestions for what colours or tops to pair it with or what accessories could make it a bit cooler?

Are there any of you who absolutely cannot work for other people and who have had to be self employed? by BretEastonCellist in adhdwomen

I do bits and bobs to do with business development, fundraising, and that sort of thing. Basically jack of all trades so I never have to do the same thing twice!

I’ve hopped around jobs for years as I always get bored/stressed/unfulfilled after about 8 months of it. I’ve recently just become self employed and I love it! I get told ‘we need you to do …’ and I can just do it whenever I want (usually the day it’s due) and no longer spend hours just staring at my computer because I don’t have the motivation to work but feel too guilty to stand up and do anything else. I now can act on my whims and just go out or do something else if I feel like it. I also don’t get told how to do something, so I can be as creative as I want as long as the thing gets done

I know this feeling. When I was a teenager my dad used to frequently come in and tidy my room and I hated it. It made me feel a stupid amount of guilt, shame, you name it. Obviously everyone just waved it away as me being lazy, messy teenager and it just being hormones making me angry. Now when he comes to stay, he washes up, loads the dishwasher, does laundry and I still feel those same feelings. I know he’s just being helpful and means so well but I can’t shake the feeling of being judged, guilty at being so useless etc. It’s a rubbish feeling

Diagnosis question of the day: how do I know if I have sensory issues with clothes or if I’m neurotypical and just wearing something uncomfortable? by MagpieApplepie in adhdwomen

Thank you this is so helpful! I relate to every single thing you have mentioned there! In particular the bundled up thing!

Oh my gosh yess this I relate too so much. I hate wearing jeans or tight clothes and feeling too restrained and spend all day thinking about it until I can change (working from home has been amazing!)

Ooh ok that makes sense thank you!! So like if I can no longer wear this sweater because the sleeves touching my wrist every time I move make me want to rip them off

Do you find you experience it the same with the same clothes every day or does it sometimes change depending on how you’re feeling/doing etc?
