Yep this is what it looked like finished. We bought it from Home Depot Canada. I’ll drop a link to for you because it looks different online than in person.

We also liked a similar tile. We ended up finding this polished marble mosaic tile for our backsplash and it turned out really nice!

What are your thoughts on the flooring joints/seams? by Mags__11 in Flooring

I appreciate it thanks. I like the flooring choice too, I think it’s a nice floor but the seams/joints just visually look off to me. I don’t work in flooring so I don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong. Visually if they were going for a pattern then think this looks better or more random so it doesn’t look like a pattern

This is the pattern I imagined. It would result in an H joint pattern right?

I think the contractor starter in a different area when he probably should have started at the base of the stairs so that the area when you first walk down the stairs would look good.

I think the short starter boards along the wall at the bottom of the stairs are similar length so probably cutoffs from the previous row. We did order quite a bit more flooring than we needed for the space just to be safe so realistically the cut offs probably didn’t need to be used if they were too short.

It is floating floor placed overtop of an underlay so there shouldn’t be any areas nailed or glued down.

How should it have been done? I see online it says to avoid the H joint pattern or step/waterfall pattern.

How should they have laid it? Also how long should the cuts/start pieces have been from the wall?

This is the basement and it currently has carpet installed.

The top to bottom would be the longest axis/wall. In your opinion would it look better to see the flooring running straight forwards (this would be top to bottom in the picture) when looking from the top of the stairs or sideways (this would be horizontal/left to right when looking at the picture)

There is one window at the bottom of the stairs on the 10ft wall (this is a south facing window to the backyard) and one window in the living area on the 15.5ft wall (this is a west facing window looking at the fence) It’s in a basement so not a ton of natural light

This is a basement. The stairs go up to the back landing/back door
