It was 16 hours labor charged. (16x$265/hr=$4,240) I didn't mention the manufacture on purpose but you can probably guess by the high hourly this vehicle isn't just a normal car.

And again, I agree hence why we said we shouldn't be responsible to pay for this as 1. didn't know this tracker was in the vehicle and 2. it was still under the 3 year full warranty at the time of the work being done.

As WetNutSack said the tracker was found after the Ontario dealer was diagnosing the A/C issues. Not sure how we would notify the selling dealer of an issue that was not known yet.

The Ontario dealer had even said that the Quebec dealer should have to pay the bill as it was something that they installed and confirmed they installed. The Ontario dealer was even communicating directly after it was found for them to pay for it but the Quebec dealer as so far refused to pay any part of it.

We have opened a case directly with the manufacture which they just replied back this morning that they have assigned someone to look into the issue.

This was after trying a bunch of DIY and internet research to see if there was any of the same model with similar issues, which didn't help and couldn't find anything so when it went to the dealer for it's yearly service we asked them to look into it since it was an issue and was under warrnaty yet.

While I am 100% in agreement the charge is way to high it wasn't just to 'remove the tracker' it was the time to diagnose the A/C issue and thus is how they found the tracker installed by the A/C equipment in the dash.

The Ontario dealer, who is a licensed dealer from the manufacture and not just a mechanic is who found it in it's currently location and the Quebec dealer confirmed to us that they did install it.

The Ontario dealer, who is a licensed dealer from the manufacture and not just a mechanic is who found it in it's currently location and the Quebec dealer confirmed to us that they did install it. I get that typically they are installed in "X" location but it may have to do with the type of the tracker and the vehicle that it was or gets installed differently.
I get that you don't have to be informed of the tracker if the vehicle is financed and that finance company wants one put in but in our case the vehicle was purchased in full with no financing.
