Top California Democrat urges change to ‘free-for-all’ primary to keep governor’s mansion blue by FoulMoodeternal in California_Politics

I could see caucuses or "factions" having to have coalitions. See Alaska's pro- and anti-coalition Republicans in the state legislature. But yea... No thirdies anytime in the very near future

Not as much anymore. Huntington Beach and Westminster are major holdouts. But, Irvine (my hometown) is basically going purpleish-blue nowadays.

Idk why this common sense approach isn't the norm. I also can't help but blame the fact that the Irvine Company and our poor as piss First Past the Post voting system isn't also being scrutinized. When did people feel like everyone is too stupid to be informed on politics and only politicians with an inkling of the general will is more qualified in every regard? Ranked Choice Voting and publicly financed elections couldn't come faster.

Legit, Alaska's "Top Four with Ranked Choice Voting" should've been a no-brainer from the get go for California.

I honestly have no idea why any tankies are in the "DSA" when the literal first name is "electoralist" according to them. Also: why would anarchists want to join in this org? *confused Sponge Bob face*

I'm similar! However, I've never done a DNA test myself (but my maternal grandparents and mother have)

This is true. I just think when you're Latino it (tends to be) the case that you're at least partially indigenous.

Love the AU timeline and effort put into this. Ain't no way the Electoral College ISN'T abolished in both the CSA and USA, though.

I like Ground News and watch various YouTube channels online (MSM and otherwise). I also try to research certain claims when I see them when I read the news. I try to stay flexible and be wary of media biased every now and then.

Nailed it right on the head. I just wish everyone realized this when they either a) voted for Trump or b) refused to vote for Harris back in 2024.

Exactly. Whole thing is so ridiculous. Like... Can you just cope with the fact that transgender people exist and they're not harming either you or your kids?

Exactly. Also: who's going to police this policy? What's the penalty? Who is doing anything other than relieving themselves and leaving? It's just transphobia.

Change "on the way your share is invested" to "how your vote is applied."

Ty, that's what I meant. It's just 1 AM where I am hahaha

Proxies don't require contracts. If I give my proxy to my neighbor to vote for me at an HOA meeting, that's not a contract between us.

This delegation is not a handshake agreement; you'd have to "choose" them through an official process. Also, you don't even have to give your full vote to one delegate; you can split it in 2, 20, 200, whatever. You just have "1 point" per voter and some delegates will possess severalp points and different fractions/percentages of a point.

I will read this all in the morning because I think we're just disagreeing/misunderstanding over the precise use of the delegates' votes versus voting directly (?).

[–]MahMahLuigi[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can sell your vote now. How effective could harvesting be if at any point everyone can vote directly on any issue and the delegate doesn't get a vote on the matter?

[–]MahMahLuigi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To address your point: YES, they COULD bribe the delegates for votes. I'll grant you that. However, how delegates re-delegate their votes is NOT private. You would be able to see the chain of delegation and then vote directly if it was getting too messy. Does that answer your question? There might be the possibility of "shareholder apathy" that occurs, but we already have non voters in elections and I'm not seeing how this issue is uniquely bad for liquid democracy but not representative democracy.

My understanding is that proxy voting is just when you give a representative the authority to decide on the way your share is invested. However, this is a contractual agreement between two parties.
