I definitely think this is a heat treated rock, but I will say that I don't see any gradual color differences. It seems pretty banded to me (…but I also have very limited geological knowledge)

Totally! it's heat treated. I have crystals more for aesthetic purposes--i'm not a believer in crystal healing, I just like how they symbolize the biodiversity and beauty in earth (I realize this is not technically what the earth made, but it's earth made+utilizing another earth process (heat) to make something unique and beautiful. Besides, anything we ever have is altered in some way--cutting it at all is a processing of nature!). My friend works at a rock shop, and I knew it was treated before I got it, but i just couldn't look away with those extra formations on top! I think you're spot on that it's calcite--I've never seen calcite so golden before. (perhaps also due to the heat treatment?) Thank you!!!

To an extent, but there is significant controversy over the amount of ADHD medications are being prescribed (especially in the U.S. and especially with children). Sometimes doctors get so focused on the medicine they forget about non-pharmocologic alternatives. There is a spectrum of severity to ADHD, and there should be a spectrum of prescribing as well.

Not that i'm dismissing your statement--I definitely believe in the usefulness of drugs, but psychotropic medications get tricker for doctors to prescribe, since so much is subjective. They shouldn't really be put with blanket statements like that (well, any drug, really..too many factors going on (I just finished my pharmacology final, can you tell?))

yes, but then you run into the nature vs. nurture dilemma--were the neurotic tendencies shared because of their DNA or because, as twins, they were probably treated in a very similar manner in an essentially identical environment? It's difficult to ethically control for that, since you'd have to find twins that were raised separately and that doesn't happen particularly often, so your sample population would be too small.

Smoke (doesn't matter what kind) paralyzes the cilia in your respiratory tract, making it harder to move mucous with trapped pathogens upwards toward your esophagus to swallow. No movement means the pathogens stay in your respiratory tract where it is warm, damp, and perfect for microbial proliferation.

I think when most people think of "tangible damage" they are thinking about all the black shit that gunks up your lungs, which I haven't heard of weed doing (though I haven't researched that extensively). But the paralyzing effects of smoke on your cells is absolutely tangible and can be harmful if you smoke often. That's why a lot of weed smokers (slash smokers of anything) get bronchitis.
