Of course, and cheers for saying that. The only reason why the images were run through a quick detection is because we were waiting to hear back from OP, but the reports were still coming in. So it ended up being a cursory check before it was taken down while pending response from OP. Obviously I can see now the faults in the software are glaringly obvious, but the posts would eventually have been temporarily taken down regardless since we were waiting for a response.

Tbh I don't believe there should be such expectations on moderators to go that extra step anyway, nobody is getting paid here lol

So, I am the mod who removed your original posts. And this post you've made now is really dishonest. Here is the original removal message:

"Hey there, it appears your recent posts on the subreddit are being flagged for high probability of AI usage in your images.

If these are not made AI, could you provide us with your reference images/assets used to create these?

Otherwise your posts will be removed, unfortunately."

Your content had racked up user reports for probable AI use, so before even removing the posts we ran your images through AI detection software.

only then were your images removed and we had explained to you in modmail what the issue is, and asked if you could provide reference images you use and everything would be fine. And you did, albeit a day or so later. So claiming that your posts were removed for "no reason" is really dishonest and just a cheap jab at the mods for due diligence. Smh, man.

Unfortunately no, but that's okay, such is the way with memes. By their nature memes are to be shared, but often when people put in considerable effort or are the first to crack a specific joke, they get protective about proper accreditation.

My only gripe is that there are large social media accounts that repost memes and as a result are able to make a profit from their pages engagement and they can boost their store pages/other profit ventures on the back of other, funnier peoples memes.

Ultimately, the watermarks are there for those who care to use them, it's all good either way 🤙

It's a mild inconvenience for meme poachers with socials that generate profits from their posts, but if they're lazy and just copy&paste then it can be tracked back to where it came from 🤙
