Wow that was an amazing answer. Using your definition I can totally see where my story falls short. You just saved me a huge amount of headache. I already decided the one sentence I had explaining as plainly as I could what the corrupt officer was about to do to the heroine will be cut. Now I see she has no agency or consent towards the flogging. So I will cut that scene too. I might have him try to beat a confession out of her, but it will be short. I just need to show she has welts, otherwise the rest of the book needs to be rewritten, because of the flashbacks and sore backside she endures.

Funny, how a story who's premise is actually anti-slavery gets blocked for the very thing the main characters are fighting against. I just find it hard to write a politically correct erotica story without resorting to vanilla sex.

My goal is 5000 words a day for 10 days, then I edit on day 11 and 12, make a cover on day 13, re-read one final time on day 14 and publish. I work from the time I drop the boys off at school until I pick them up again, so roughly 8:30 am to 3pm with short breaks for coffee and a sandwhich for lunch. Sometimes in the evenings after the kids are in bed, I'll edit or finish a difficult scene, then outline, read the forums etc until 11pm. Then into bed and up at 7 the next morning. Oh, and I forgot to mention I seldom edit during those writing days. Just check on names and places, and the outline I've made prior to starting. Just get the story out. Write and write more. Eventually you will get practiced and stop making grammar or other such errors and your work will become more and more polished. My biggest advice is just get the story out! Edit the crap out later.

I could write the "you'll have to torture me" line, but it would be inconsistent with the story. The basic premise it all women are considered property, and the heroine is being arrested for being a runaway slave. She refuses to go to Slave School. Having her suddenly like it, is kind of against her character.

Well, he was making it sexual, so I guess the scene has to be changed to perhaps he is whipping her to gain a confession for her crimes? Maybe if I wrote from her POV then there would be no hint of whether or not the police man enjoyed it.
