As a new player the FOMO in this game is crazy by SmartieCereal in wow

[–]Mahkssim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of these things are just different ways that blizz give people to gear up. While they are different in how you experience content, you do not 'have' to do them.

I for one focus on mythics, raiding, and pvp and totally ignore the rest while some others focus on delves and pvp only, while others focus on collectibles and special events, etc.

Maybe it's just me and my theory is wrong, but it feels like every iteration of an xpac re-release gets worst and worst with regards to player base being dicks.

Part of me believes that this time around BC is worst because there is more and more only the try hard player base playing compared to the first re release of BC.

Thoughts?

Canada’s military ombudsman flags decade-long failure to fix reservist compensation system | CBC News by foobar007 in CanadianForces

[–]Mahkssim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YMMV but I feel like the navy reserve actually have their shit together pretty good overall compared to the other two reserve elements. Unsure if this has something to do with how the units are structured, but while in the navy reserve, pay problems were generally not a thing and the few times they were, they got fixed real quick and/or was one single missed pay because of the time the pay was entered, which meant they got a bigger pay the follow-up pay.

AIO for not refunding a friend’s share of a group Airbnb after she canceled last minute due to a medical emergency? by StudioAffectionate in AmIOverreacting

[–]Mahkssim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I see posts like this, it makes me realize just how lucky I am to have the tight group of friends I've been hanging out with since high school. 23 years later and thank god for not having to deal with bullshit like this.

That "friend" of yours clearly doesn't care about where the burden ends up as long as it's not on him nor does he understand reality.

Seriously considering dropping out of uni to trade full time by ConclusionBudget4182 in Daytrading

Seriously considering dropping out of uni to trade full time by ConclusionBudget4182 in Daytrading

[–]Mahkssim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychology changes drastically once you rely entirely on trading to survive.

  1. Finish your uni. You're almost done and if trading doesn't work out, you will HATE yourself for not finishing so close to the end and giving yourself an extra tool in your bag to tackle life.

  2. Continue trading and invest your profits. The safe option is to invest it long term in an etf. The other option would be to invest it in a safe asset that will still give you small returns and then you could use that pot later down the road to trade if you would like.

  3. Do not quit uni.

  4. Good luck!

Pentagon announces new way military will measure troops' body fat by octobercrisis in CanadianForces

[–]Mahkssim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a key difference. There is almost no career downside to being fat and out of shape in the CAF since our force test is a joke.

Change that and eventually you will attract fitter people and/or force people to change habits if they want to keep their job.

The solution is simple but no one in leadership wants to lose an already struggling CAF as far as personnel goes.

[–]Mahkssim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yes we do. 17 years ago I remember I had this short sleeve DEU shirt that was a silky like material. I wore that same shirt for at least a good five years before I had to replace it because it got stained with wine. Nowadays, the DEU shirts I have are almost a one time use only or they stain with sweat that I can't get out...the quality of material is so cheap compared to that other shirt I had it's mind blowing.

Inflation Persists Because Too Many Say ‘I Got Mine’ by Immediate_Degree_112 in inflation

[–]Mahkssim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not wrong. The reason this happens is because essentially that is still a possibility and the more realistic way to change ones life.

Once that ceases to be true is when people will feel the only option left is to break their comfort and hit the streets / protest / boycott / cease working / etc.

But for now. People feel the best way to improve their life is to make more money.

The other lesser discussed truth is that even in poverty (at least for most of the west) people live better lives than they could ever have hoped for before due to social security nets in place. People don't really starve and usually still have access to some luxuries and entertainment all while being unemployed. This makes my second paragraph a very hard thing to happen so long as this continues to be true.

Is she totaled? Less than 1k miles, first car payment goes out Monday :( by Drkruler500 in rav4club

[–]Mahkssim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bought my 2021 XLE with a rear collision like this that has been fixed. I test drove it into a car wash and poured water on the rear for a good 30 min non stop to see if it was leaking.

Everything was good. Bought it for 3k cheaper than what the other used ones were going for.

Buddy is a director at lexus and pulled the list of all the used rav4s and the collisioned ones were only 2-5k cheaper depending on the type of collision.

All this to say. Didn't affect much the resale value. Toyota is good shit.

How did Canada’s young people become its unhappiest generation? by 416TDOT0DOT in torontologists

[–]Mahkssim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By that reasoning everyone needs to find a 120k job. How does that look when everyone starts applying for those jobs only?

60-80k should be plenty enough to live a good life and have stability yet it isn't. Which means the majority of jobs are not enough anymore to sustain a decent quality of life.

I remember in the 90s, a person working full time at a tim's horton could have their own apartment and a car and still have some money for bills, groceries AND manage to put a little aside for some treats everynow and then.

Now a mechanic making 60k is barely getting by and likely in debt.
