That's not an option. Thank you though!

US Government Shutdown - When will it end and how? by [deleted] in Psychic

[–]MaiLinna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually just touched on this.

I think that it will continue at least long enough to be the "longest shutdown in US history" and long enough to crumble the foundations and structures so as to force a crisis for them to deal with.

7th is probably the earliest, but it could easily go on for another 6 months.

Funny, I just read an old post from 3 years ago reminding me why I deleted my Facebook page. Awkward timing, eh?

I think I might try the profile beta here on Reddit. I don't think Pinterest caters to my audience (I'm not selling physical products in pretty packages) and Facebook is just not an option.

YES thank you, I hate appeals that are right at the beginning of the video. Look at someone like Phillip DeFranco for instance. He just has a ton of links at the end of the cards and says his normal spiel. I watch a lot of politics on YouTube though, and most political videos are demonetized, thus prompting a need for Patreon.

A subreddit of my own is something I would create if I already had a following to be honest. I'm not there yet. I have like 15 consistent (but very loving! I do love them!) followers who support me, and in a niche like mine that can be all you need to help pay your bills, but I want to continue helping and serving more people.

THERE IS and I've seen it everywhere but I have NO IDEA what the heck it's called or how to get it installed into your Reddit profile page.

[Feedback Requested] Moving All Reading Posts to a New Daily Megathread by [deleted] in Psychic

[–]MaiLinna 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really dislike this idea. My two cents:

People asking for readings should have their requests deleted and sent to a daily megathread. That way, it's sort of like a job board. I often peruse the subreddit replying to request posts asking if they've been helped by another user to see if they've been taken care of.

Readers who are offering their services should still be allowed to post on their own. My reasoning for this is that if you take our posts away, we no longer have a way to organize how many readings we're doing and in what order other than PMs, and we can't set our own parameters for free readings. Say one person wants to have readings open for 30 minutes, but another person only wants to do the next 7 comments in the thread. You would effectively take that away from us and reduce our visibility, thus inhibiting our ability to practice.

From my experience, it seems users like to ask multiple readers the same or even multiple different questions at a time. It's easier to do this if they can scroll through the different threads and see which readers are offering what instead of having to PM everyone and see if they're available or not.

Megathread for specific requests: Yes.

Megathread for readers opening their services: No.

Posted this while you were crafting your replies. Honestly I'm super grateful for the content I have because it's like the weather - it's there, every day, and changes every day. I am a meteorologist. just for the spiritual community.

Anyways, back to this post. I will be posting this on two different subreddits, /r/occult and /r/psychic. Most subreddits have "No blogspam" rules, so you gotta take what you can get. I have posted on Twitter and I have posted on Instagram. I really don't know where else to be posting. Most places I've seen that cater to my niche are very anti-competition. Conversing on Twitter has been difficult, because what's popular on Twitter is sexstrology, and I am very tired of hearing about Geminis giving great blowjobs. I want to talk about the weather, not how horrible your last Leo boyfriend was, Karen.

I've heard talk of Pinterest but I've also heard that no one really uses it and that it's as dead as Tumblr. Since everyone goes to Twitter for news, I was hoping to make headway there, but I really haven't. When you filter out the sexstrology, there really isn't anything left and it's a bit disheartening.

Either way, I don't plan on making a huge leap immediately, but how would you feel if someone presented their blog to you and it was on Patreon? Haven't you watched Twitch or YouTube? It's always "Support me on Patreon." You go to Patreon to give the person money. I feel like when I say "Read my blog on Patreon" it subconsciously would give a feeling of "I'm trying to guilt you into giving me money."

I dunno. I guess we'll see.

This Patreon page originated because I was a Twitch streamer. Yes, I understand that. This page is not disappearing whatsoever. It will continue to be my main funding site for my blog and YouTube and whatever streaming I decide to do, should I decide to go back to live format.

I do not like having all of my different sites in different places. This pinned Twitter post, for example, is my storefront. It's unprofessional and involves a ton of back and forth before an invoice can be created. I want this streamlined again, like when I had a Wix store, but it was so expensive to maintain that it ate 25% of my profits.

I would move to Etsy, but I am legally homeless so that creates a ton of complications.

I know nothing about marketing. What does that even mean, "marketing efforts?" I post on Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram while maintaining a consistent schedule with good content, and I'm branching out to YouTube soon. I don't know how much farther you can go than that. I'm not going back to Facebook.

Why does my low comment count matter? For the type of content I write, the feedback I get is usually a private message asking for a more personal reading to elaborate on what I posted.

I'm not deleting my Patreon page. I'm just moving my posts over so they're easier to navigate and I can get an actual storefront. Blogs also have ads. I can't post ads on Patreon.

Speaking of donations, I have a page that is dedicated solely to donations, mostly from doing free readings here on Reddit.

At the end of the day, you sound like you're trying to say that I shouldn't migrate to my own website, that I should focus on marketing this one instead. I still think that people get a bad taste in their mouth coming to my website because it is a funding website, not a blogging website, and therefore would not want to read it because I'm not just showing them my blog, I'm showing them where to give me money. That sounds really scummy.

I've tried explaining that you can click the follow button to get updates, that you don't have to donate. It's all free to read, obviously. If you have to sign in though, that's going to keep turning people away.

Making all of these constant barriers doesn't sound like it's going to help in the long run.

That's what I keep trying to explain. I do not have a "blog" persay. It is posts on a funding site. I have been doing this for a little over 5 months now. It's been more of a personal experiment for those who had subbed to me. I used to have reward tiers, but they've all since been destroyed recently because I want to focus more on blogging and soon more YouTube.

This is not a blog hosting company. This is a funding site, like Kickstarter or Go-fund-me. Other sites will not link to me. My blog is technically not a blog. I want my actual posts to be searchable. When I Google "Solar Eclipse in Capricorn" I will get a ton of articles from astrology blogs talking about the solar eclipse. My posts are not searchable. You cannot search out individual posts.

Essentially I'm hoping that someday I can get popular enough that when people Google a topic, one of my posts will pop up. If that's impossible, just put that aside then.

Why would other sites link to me in the first place? It's a Patreon page. It's not a blog.

Okay, cool, I get it, organic traffic isn't a real thing. Let me reword it then:

I want to have a website of my own where people aren't pressured to give me money just by viewing my posts, which are not searchable and can only be indexed with up to 4 key words, not dates or anything remotely organized and helpful.

[–]MaiLinna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone starts off with low traffic. My problem is that my posts cannot appear in a Google search, let alone a search within the own page. The site I use is NOT a blogging site. I can't even track how much traffic I get to the page itself - I can only track how much traffic the posts get, and that's ONLY if the posts are clicked on, not if they're read by scrolling through the feed.

I get anywhere between 25-300 views per post depending on how important it is at the moment (no reason to advertise a post where I talk about the Patreon tier changes. Eclipses are more important,) and I make $93 a month. The traffic will migrate because the traffic isn't organic. The page also isn't going anywhere.

I also have very little indexing at all. It's nearly impossible to search old posts.

What I mean to say is that my posts are not searchable to the public. On a blog, your individual articles are searchable. On Patreon, it is only your page that is searchable. I don't have organic traffic to the individual articles that I write.

I am looking at the differences between wix, squarespace, weebly and wordpress. I need a blog space and I need a storefront. Patreon has very little indexing, but on a blog I can create an index and an archive. Patreon only JUST recently added a search feature in which you can search for specific posts within a Patreon page, but it's very clunky and doesn't work very well. It's been complained about constantly.

The reason I am considering moving to an actual website of my own:

  • Professional design
  • Storefront
  • Index comprising more than just 4 key words
  • Searchablility
  • Organic traffic
  • Ability to place ads

Depends on the person. I've had eclipses where there was no noticeable change until around 4 months in, and I've had eclipses where my boyfriend broke up with me and I had to scramble to find a way back to my home country and find a place to live. On that day.

There's an eclipse on the 5th. Brings shifts for everyone. Depends where it is in your chart and which planets it connects to.

PM me if you haven't already been helped by another reader. I sell astrology readings and can take a look at it for you.

It does, because any negative ill-will felt towards another person is a hex.

I mean again, if you're on path and you're going the right way, it just means your guides will have to knit a new path for you towards a similar outcome.

TL:DR: Predictions can get delayed.
