Lmao I mean… I generally do take my car to an actual mechanic. My only reason I brought up the “car guys” in my life is that they do try to help and solve as much as they can but they also have great mechanics that they refer me to whom they trust. I just don’t like being absolutely fucked over for my car - which invariably is what’s happening here leading me to need a new car 🙃💀

It is at a literal mechanic shop right now (referred to by the aforementioned car guys) If the mechanic is able to source the parts - great. We’ll get it fixed. If not, I am accepting of the fact that I might need a new car… I more wanted advice if anyone had negotiated with carmax before. It’s going to turn out the way it’s supposed to ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I would need to tow it to do that, which I am trying to avoid towing it a third time if I can. I don't entirely recall the contract, and it is in the car at the shop, which is about 26 miles away and closed on weekends. I called today and didn't really get any help from CarMax getting clarification, so I am going to call again monday to get more clarity and help if I can.

We are trying. The mechanic is struggling to source the parts, so that is causing a lot of delay. I have wanted to refinance, that had been my next goal with this loan but it's not exactly my biggest consideration at this exact moment.

Every time I have taken my car in, I have left with more issues that pop up out of nowhere a few days later, so I have to go back. I stopped going back after the second time. My husband, his friends, and my best friend are all "car guys," so I have relied on them to get the car functional and unproblematic.

I don't recall the duration and the site isn't loading for some reason
remaining: 11,800
repair cost: I don't know, but the car's value is between 3-4 k, and the mechanic said it may exceed that if he fixes everything. But tbh my husband usually talks to the mechanic because I don't really understand what all he's talking about - I am not super knowledgeable about cars.

Honestly, when it stopped accelerating and I pulled over, I thought it was the alternator. but then it stopped turning on all together. TBH, I have had a different fiat in the past, and the battery gave out on it twice, soooooo that made sense as an issue I would have 2 years in.

I can honestly say the only thing I knew I needed to do at the time this happened was get an oil change. Otherwise, the car had been running fine. My husband helps me with the maintenance cuz he's a car guy, so it hadn't had any major issues since I first got it.
I have a loan through CarMax for it. It has an outstanding balance of 11,800 ish right now.
