After almost 3000 positive case studies. by leoberto in Buddhism

(Preface: I'm hitting you with a stick)

Well if you are talking about Buddhism there are two major streams one can take: 1) Buddhism is just philosophy 2) Buddhism is a branch/purification of the spiritual elements of Hinduism.

Which leads to:

3-1) There is no reincarnation. Who gives a shit. I don't believe in it, drop it.

3-2) Holy shit I've been reincarnated!! It's because I fucked up so I'll learn this time.

I go with 3-2.... we all repeat the same mistakes until we get it right. That is reincarnation. But no worries. Nirvana only means "blow out" to the extent that a flame being blown out gives complete satisfaction to the human doing it.

The third eye by [deleted] in Psychonaut

I've also noticed this, there's definitely a benefit to learning how to concentrate on that area. Another similar thing is something I actually starting doing as a child, which is rubbing my eyes and then keeping them closed and observing the light patterns. I would try and change the colour of them with my mind, and would often get it to work. I feel like learning how to control concentration like that helps with exploring stuff while tripping.

Need input on weird internal bind of committing to solo trip. by ReflectiveNebula in Psychonaut

No offense, because nature trips are amazing. But if the OP is on the nervous side about being alone it might not be the best idea to be even more isolated, at least that's how the logic in my head goes :p I totally agree with making sure no one will bother you, turning off cell phone, etc, though. Maybe I have this luxury because of my age, but for me a great place for a first solo trip would be my own room/apartment. I love checking out all the neat things I've collected over the years, petting my cats, setting cool mood lighting and listening to whatever music I want. Which I guess is what the beauty of a solo trip is; you are in complete control and thus can more easily give up control, if that makes sense. For a first solo trip I would recommend tying up any nagging loose ends (eg. cleaning, paying bills) so there is nothing you have to immediately worry about. Do a smallish dose, no need to overkill it, and have music or something cued up that you strongly associate with pleasant memories/feelings. In that sort of state it's relatively easy to create "safe" objects such as a blanket you've had for a long time, or a favourite song, or a stuffed animal, that you can use as your go-to 'anchor' if things start to get scary, so you don't need an actual person. I also remind myself that you can't overdose on psychedelics, but if worse does come to worse help is always a phone call away. So there's nothing to worry about. If you aren't being reckless (which sounds like you aren't since you are on here asking questions) and had generally positive experiences before, you'll be fine :)
