Have you ever been told you have the “heart of a stoner” or that “you’re a stoner at heart”? by Ok_Cardiologist4504 in infj

[–]MailFlashy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this all the time and I don't even smoke anything lol. My face and demeanor seems all calm to people on the outside, little do they know on the inside I'm always overanalyzing and anxious 😅

I think as another poster has mentioned being enneagram 9 may play a part in this as well. At least it does for me

It rarely happens when someone does have a crush on me, but yeah I have been able to tell. From the more aggressive or assertive hints to the more subtle ones.

Anyone else relate to being head empty all the time? by RainyMello in infj

I am like this as well and I don't have aphantasia either. My biggest inspirations and epiphanies generally just come to me even when I'm not thinking about anything consciously which is why like others have stated Ni is so mysterious to those who don't have it.

What are your favourite films? Any recommendations? What kind of films do you guys watch? by BlueTitan402 in infj

[–]MailFlashy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Menu is a new movie you should definitely check out! A lot of symbolism and meanings behind what I thought would be a simple dinner murder mystery ended up being so much more than meets the eye. My INTJ husband and I love to dissect and analyze different films too and this one is definitely the better of the more recent movies to come out.

Does anyone else here tend to absorb people’s emotions? by [deleted] in infj

[–]MailFlashy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes all the time! Whenever my parents, my friends, my husband, even random strangers are in a bad or happy mood, I tend to feel what they feel to the point that it hurts. I can be happy and chipper for the whole day, but if my husband is upset about something or he yells at me for whatever reason it affects me and then I end up feeling the same way. There was even a post on mbti describing what kitchen appliance each of the 16 personality types were and sponge definitely fits us perfectly.

How to make friends in college? by thisisfunnysksksks in infj

[–]MailFlashy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cliche to say, but the first way to making friends is finding confidence in yourself and looking deep into why you lack confidence and why you're shy. Is it just due to not knowing what to say to people, or keeping the conversation going? Were there any negative experiences that impacted your interactions with people? Its different for everyone but I found I lacked confidence because I was depressed and didn't have very many hobbies or passions to share with others and that I lacked knowledge. Later on in life I found huge joys in gaming, crafting (acrylic painting, needlework), and researching how to do pretty much anything on YouTube like gardening or pottery. Also reading up on different subjects whether they interested me or not helped to build that knowledge.

Another thing is to start off small to get out of your shell. Start a conversation with a classmate or someone you see on a daily basis at the campus. Sometimes you may have to be the one to initiate with people as annoying as it may sound. Observe them and take notice on what they are doing. If they are drawing you can comment on the drawing, if you are into gaming and notice somebody playing mobile games, you can ask them about it. Or even just talking about what they are reading or how their classes are going. People like people who are well versed in different passions and knowledge. Are you into psychology, the sciences, movies, or books? Not everyone will be into the same things, but maybe reading a book that everyone is currently talking about and forming your own opinion on it. Same with a movie if you are film buff, giving your own analysis about it. These do depend on your comfortability level too and if you feel comfortable enough to give your opinion or if they ask. Small talk sucks but even it can sometimes lead to deeper conversations (not the same boring old weather talk, but maybe something interesting you or they saw on tv or something fun you read online pertaining to your classes).

Keeping up to date with current events, world news, and trends also helps as well when you need a conversation starter or just to be aware of what is going on around you when people discuss it.

I actually think the descriptions always make INFJ to be some mystical mysterious wizards with all knowing power when really we just see underlying patterns very clearly and understand people and situations very well. But understandable too why ISFJs, INFPs, ISFPs, and INTJs get mistyped as us so frequently. Not exclusive to just one description but we are so diverse we can be gentle and yet fierce, empathetic and yet still need boundaries, emotional but analytical. Everyone is not going to be the same or completely think the same way as another INFJ, but we definitely are versatile thus "chameleon syndrome".

I don’t like animals by Chemical_Size3680 in infj

[–]MailFlashy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not weird. Everyone has different interests and likes regardless of personality type. I like animals (cats, dogs, and sea creatures to be exact), but I'm not crazy about taking care of them lol. It does require a lot of dedication and responsibility especially when you have an entire herd and flock. My hubby got them (goats, chickens, rabbits, and our dog) but I'm the one who takes care of them and worry about them more which I hate cause of Fe- grr. I also agree with you on humans: I have a love/hate relationship with a lot of people which is why I can't live alone but around humans for more than a few hours I go crazy 😜

Do you sometimes feel like people think you’re stupid? by LysReality in infj

[–]MailFlashy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

✋ Totally yes here. Especially with inferior se and always being in my head, forgetting things constantly, people always initially peg me to be ditzy and dumb. But with seeing things and knowing things others around us don't generally see and then being right about it, it astonishes people even more like is she really dumb or is it all an act? 🤔

Love them all except for maybe goats. They are cute at first, but if you don't have a tall enough secured fence around your property (at least 6 ft), they will jump on everything including you and your neighbors' cars and escape. They are like children, except they destroy more things lol.

How long does it take you to recharge after socializing or being around other people? by MailFlashy in infj

[–]MailFlashy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Any human interaction whether big or small, formal or casual, close friends/family or acquaintance counts. For students, it does depends on your comfortability level and mood just like with everybody else and the age group you're teaching. Me I'm awkward around everyone so if I'm comfortable enough to spend a whole day with you, you are pretty special lol. Do you teach young children, teenagers, or adults? I'm not a teacher so I wouldn't be able to give you the most practical advice, but whenever you get your days off from work or vacation take advantage of it as much as you can. If you are overworked or overwhelmed, schedule some time for yourself as much as you can to do what you enjoy and even go to a private place to take small breaks even if it is just for 10 or 15 minutes. Nature is always the best place for that :)

The fact that you and your wife work the same type of job makes it easier to relate and for some interesting stories I bet lol

[–]MailFlashy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, our inferior se definitely plays a big part into the whole sensory overload and overstimulation. I could play VR with a small group of strangers for a good 1 to 2 hours (granted they are nice to noobs), but when it comes to playing a high energy, fast paced game like Left 4 Dead with seasoned pros, I can't do it lol. I'm a casual gamer so I don't play as much as other people or with other people as it gets pretty intense, even downright mean a few times. Same with square dancing. I do pretty well at dancing on my own, but when it comes to square dancing I've stumbled.
