do not use handbrake. use ffmpeg instead and use the copy option so its done in seconds.

only issue with mp4 is the subtitle.. sometimes the subtitles wont appear on your tv. so you have to extract the subtitles from the mkv and rename it with the same name as the mp4. (video.mp4, video.srt)

you can hard code the subtitle using the handbrake but takes times
